There is a difference between firmware for the drone (M4P currently at 1.00.0500), which deals with the functionality of the drone, the firmware of RC2 (currently 02.02.0000) which deals with the complete functionality of the remote (in essence an Android device) and the DJI Fly app which is the controlling software. A drone firmware update will almost never change anything you see on the remote - it could/should change the behaviour of the drone. A new version of the Fly app is necessary for changed user interface or additional functionality. So, for instance, the 'P mode' problem is an UI problem, introduced in DJI Fly 1.13.0 and solved in 1.13.1.
At least until now an update of the DJI Fly app on the RC2 required an update of the firmware, but with 02.02.00 that should have been solved. However, the RC2 will check for an update at a specific DJI location, so as long as a new version is not published at that location the RC2 will stick with the running version. 1.13.1 has never been made available to RC2 - not via a firmware update, nor via a separate app update. In the meantime, another DJI Fly update has seen the light (1.13.2, DJI site incorrectly still states it is 1.13.1). Perhaps now, finally, this version will be made available to the RC2.... |
