O4 is so good. Would love to have it on some proper FPV drones...

I'm looking forward to the O4 Air Unit.  I was going to upgrade one of my drones to O3, but I'm waiting for O4 now.

Currently, I haven't updated or bought anything from DJI for my drones for months as I don't want to spend 250 euros (or filters or other things) on a VTX that will soon be old.
While I'm spending on VTX Walksnail (which I'm doing great with) since they cost a third and I'm much better off with Goggles X than with V2 or Integra.
If I still have to wait a long time, I will say goodbye to the DJI system. I wanted to try the G3s to see if I felt better, but they don't wake up.
I'm starting to get tired of a company that doesn't listen to its users

And 03 support to please.  

If it meant O4 Air Unit coming sooner, I'd forgive them for not supporting O3 Air Unit at all ... but yeah, it would be nice to have both Avata 2 and custom FPV drones with 1 set of goggles.

How about this... you release the O4 Air Unit and I'll call my representatives in Congress to vote against banning DJI in the States.  Sound good?  Great!

You did not call and now it's banned. Now even if they release the 04 Air unit it will be illegal to be sold in the US.

I don't think we should expect O4 in the near future. Firstly, you need to sell as many Avata 2 as possible. Secondly, Avata 1 came with a ready-made stack, which was relatively easy to pull out and put on custom drones. In Avata 2, everything is located throughout the entire body, as it was in the FatDrone (DJI FPV Drone).

of course, the DJI management and developers were completely unaware that they cannot just press the PCBA from Avata 2 / Air 3 / Mini 4 Pro in a little plastic box and sell it as an O4 air unit.

I'd recommend getting the Walksnail set up anyway.  I personally don't mind having multiple different FPV systems.

Nifty thing about the Walksnail Avatar HD Goggles X is that they support video in from various sources, making them compatible with both HD Zero and analog system.  Their vrx is upgradeable as well.  The main downside I see to Walksnail is that their software & firmware isn't as polished as DJI.

We can give DJI all the hard lines in the sand that we want, but where we choose to spend our money is our real voice. The threats of consequences shows weakness and is generally ineffective; move on if you so wish to, and be happy with your choice ;)

You could find it at 125 euro on Aliexpress right now. You could buy 2 moonlight Kit at the price of one O3 air unit.

The way I understand the bill, all drone equipment originating from China will be banned if it passes. The current US offerings cannot fulfill demand and may not be able to for some time. The US systems will not be compatible with your existing Chinese kit either. The implications will be far reaching.

I agree.  I might have to "stock up" on Air Units if this bill passes.

DJI: Release the O4 Air Unit sooner than later.  Also, make the Goggles 3 compatible with the O3.  

If the bill gets passed, how long until its actually implemented?  It could take years, perhaps enough time for DJI to create a US company to bypass it.  The bill calls out DJI specifically, creating a US division under a new name would be easy for DJI.  They wouldn't even need to move manufacturing.

The O3 is too dark. I like it out in the open on a sunny day but after getting the Avata 2 I just want the O4 Air unit now.

I think it's pretty impossible to make the Motion Controller compatible with a non DJI drone.
The input controllers must be computed in the right way by the firmware of your FC and Betaflight team (or INAV) has no advantage in do it. And you need to build a drone with lidar radar and GPS as well to have positioning system, necessary for the Motion controller.

I don't think so you should wait. There is nothing that would suggest  that o4 is near.

Remember when Avatar 1 came? the electronics looked there basically like O3 later on (form factor). Now Avata 2 came  near as Single board Drone. So DJI would have redesign O4 from scratch to fit FPV market. This probably would take time. Second thing, there is no real competition (moonlight maybe, but those system have their own problems), so DJI have ZERO incentive to iterate

I am also waiting for 04 but in the  meantime I have already bought O3. Do the same  or setup yourself Walksnail

Not a suggestion, its a demand from a lot of us.  Why?  Because releasing a set of Goggles which can only connect to very specific DJI drones with no stand-alone option (the very reason your goggles line exist) is a terrible idea.  It'll also sow distrust in the whole FPV line and cause many to jump ship to competitors.

At the very least you all should be announcing O3 support for the Goggles 3.

In the meantime, I'm still working on my own build. The progress is slow.
I'll gladly drop DJI gear in it once they support it...

Unfortunately, until DJI gets things sorted on their end, Walksnail will be getting my $$$

So, I'm happy to say that I'll be installing an O3 Air Unit in my new build, rather than the Walksnail Moonlight4k, now that DJI has finally finished & released the Goggles 3 firmware to allow backwards compatibility...

That being said...

Any word on the release of the O4 Air Unit?

I think dji need to release the latest air quick, I have been waiting for the 04 air unit and can’t wait any longer. I think a lot of people will go back to the latest GoPro with an fpv drone.

Yes, please release the 04 air unit! I am waiting to build a drone! When will you release this? Why are there leaks for everything else!
