Avata 2 keeps loosing date....

My Avata 2 keeps loosing the date, and I see on the forum that other people have reported the same,  is there some sort of best practice to ensure that the date is kept correct or a way to check the date before flying so that we can do something to correct the issue.   My workflow uses the date and time to copy and organise the footage automatically and when the date is incorrect it doesnt work correctly.

Perhaps a candidate for an up and coming firmware fix?

Just curious if you keep one of your batteries inside the Avata 2 or you store them all in a hub? So far I've kept one in the aircraft most of the time (except when charging all 3 or using power accumulation feature) and so far my date hasn't slipped up. So just wondering if maybe it's due to battery being removed for a long time.

GPS data contains precise date and time information, there is no need to use the Fly app.

Haha.  Yes thats a very good point,   but it would be nice if the drone and the goggles time was in sync.

Very true, weird that they require connecting the goggles to DJI Fly in order to fix the date when it's wrong. And it doesn't even seem to work for everyone all the time.

Most devices with swappable batteries have a smaller battery inside them to keep clock (even computer motherboards have coin cell battery on them for that reason, for when they're unplugged or power supply is off), I thought maybe Avata 2 just didn't, or had a capacitor or something that runs out too fast. I've left all my batteries in the hub since yesterday and will try to see if my time gets lost today after ~24h have passed.

But yeah, if you connect to DJI Fly, it should set the time. I've seen several reports on the forum already that it doesn't always work though.

I pretty sure it didnt work last time I connected the goggles,  it seems to maintain time and the date slips to the last flight date,  or maybe the last date on the SD card.

I did notice that with Mini 3 Pro with RC - I borrowed it from a friend who hasn't used it in a while and when I first recorded something, it had the same date as his last clip! DJI definitely needs to look into these things, would be nice if they could just pick up the correct timestamp from GPS data as Dynx suggested.

The only date issue I had with the DJI RC was it missed the leap day.

Hi, DAFlys. We're sorry for the inconvenience. Preliminary judgment is that there is a date/time error in the Goggles. Please try to correct/calibrate the date/time. The method to calibrate is to connect the Goggles and the mobile phone through the data cable, and open DJI FLY when the mobile phone is connected to the network, thereby calibrating the time information in the Goggles. If the issue persists, please let us know.

They will be in sync since DJI Goggles 3 and Integra have build-in GPS module. They need it to be compliant with remote id requirements.

Well so far my experience has been the times do not match between drone and goggles.   Makes cutting between goggles video and avata video in post a nightmare.  

Just tried after not having a battery installed in my Avata 2 for about 31 hours. Powered on the aircraft, goggles and controller, armed the motors to start recording (had 0 sattelites on Avata and probably none on Goggles either as I'm an apartment building, far from a window and far enough from last used location) so I doubt it picked the time up from GPS, but it did record correct time down to a second. I'm guessing even if Avata 2 doesn't have a small RTC battery in it, Goggles will keep RTC since they have a built-in battery and they are likely supposed to sync that clock to aircraft on every connection, but it doesn't always work (which is why DJI reps constantly suggest connecting to DJI Fly, I guess that's supposed to force the sync, but obviously doesn't work for people who have this issue). Lots of guessing here, I'm just trying to think out loud in hopes that it will help someone with debugging. I'm happy it seems to work as intended for me.

DJI Confirmed above that there is a known issue with the goggles loosing the date/time.

My understanding was that your goggles screen recordings had correct date, but onboard footage from Avata did not?

Goggles loose time but keep the date.  Avata2 seems to default to the last thing recorded on the sd card so looses both.

It would be more manageable of the file names were the old DJI_123445.xxx but now they include the date and time in the name itself even thats a pain.

Yeah, that one is a huge regression in the last few DJI products (seems like everything since Air 3 started breaking the old naming scheme which was actually a standard accepted by entire industry) as it breaks auto-import into video editing software too. The last time it lost the date it got stuck on the 10th May until I connected the phone again.

Plug your phone into the goggles and run the fly app and sync the logs and it will sync the time back to be correct.  How long it lasts for is a mystery.

It's hard to say when it occurred,  from the picture attached,  the highlighted logs have the correct date and time,   the rest from May 10 are incorrect.   The log from the 17th Is the first one after syncing the time/date as per your instructions.

I connected the goggles to DJI assistant and unlike the avata2 it was not recognised.

I connected my phone with fly app to everything before i went on a trip, so time and date should be OK on the avata 2 and goggles 3
but afterwards i saw the date and time were not correct....

really anoying when you want to add images and video based on time taken together with footage from other drones / camera/s......

please fix this.

Ok. So I just have to sync before each flight just to be sure the time/date is correct.   I wpuld have hoped it would keep the date/time as well as other DJI drones.

Yeah I also have the time/date bug, my flights are time stamped with a couple of days of offset, seemingly random offset and it changes. I did some flying right now on June 1 at 5pm, and those files got tagged as May 26 7:30 pm.
It's quite annoying when trying to sort and organize multiple videos in the same folder, hope it gets fixed soon.
