Does anyone know if the M3T beacon is FAA compliante for night operations requiring 3 statute mile visibility?  I tend to think not but hoping someone can confirm.

I've asked DJI and wrote the FAA asking the same question except with the M300's beacon. Neither would give a yes or no answer because nobody wants to be liable if it came down to it. In some hypothetical scenario where you were in court over a night flight, there's no way to prove or disprove a 3 statute mile ruling. I'd say you're good to go with it at night. After all, what would be the point of even having it built in if you still had to add a second one anyways?

I kind of felt the same way that it seemed rediculous for it not to be compliant, but I can find no info on it and it just doesn't seem bright enough for that kind of visibility.

It's pretty bad when the only way to verify if you're legal or not is by breaking the law. When they don't list it as legal or not you can only test it yourself. If you test it and can't see it, congrats you just broke VLOS. If you can see it from 3 sm one night, it doesn't exactly mean it'll remain legal another night when it's slightly foggy.

There is no LAW; it's a REGULATION. You guys should know this with your 107 cert & all. You'll never be in a court of LAW over this.

That's one reason I said in a hypothetical situation. However, I'm sure our buddy Philly Drone Life would have to disagree about never ending up in court over flying BVLOS at night. This is exactly one of the alleged counts of misconduct that he is currently facing. Amung many others.

"Compliant", "law", "regulation"..............I guess it suffices to say that when found to have acted against which ever word, regardless of any excuses put forward, there will be a consequence that hits you where it will hurt.............$$$$$.
