Maybe I am just missing it, but has anyone been able to successfully asign a name to an Avata or Avata 2?

Normally you can easily assign a name to your drone(s) in Go/Go4 or Fly.  For some reason this doesn't appear to work for the Avata or Avata 2.  There is no provision in the goggles for assigning an aircaft name.  When connected to Fly, the Device screen won't allow you to edit the default Avata or Avata 2 name.

Interesting.  So you can input a name with Fly on iOS?

I can change the name of my Air 3 and Avata 2 in the DJI Fly App (small pen close to the drone name in device management) on my iPad.
On my Android devices it's not possible.

Thanks.  Looks like a little bug that crept in for the Avata & Avata 2.  It works for models like the Mini 3 Pro/4 Pro that use Fly directly.

Hi, DB. Thank you for reaching out. We may need to coordinate this with the relevant team for further clarification. I will keep you posted.

TIL I guess I never went into device management while a drone was actively connected, as I never saw that button before.

Now, will that name appear in future logs of the aircraft? Because my Avata 2 was named "DJI Device" for some reason, and when I go to flight logs and filter by aircraft, it's still showing as "DJI Device".

It will appear with new name in future flight logs, while keeping the old name for already existing logs.I change the drone name for different fly spots, in the log view I can then select which 'fly spots' to show.

In the logs the aircraft appears as whatever custom name you have set.  If you change the name all of the log entries for that bird also change.  It must be tied to the serial number because, if you send in a drone for replacement & duplicate the name of the previous bird, you will have two entries for the name.  The aircraft has to be actively connected to Fly in order to modify the name.

Thats a fun way to use something I'd consider a bug as a feature

But I would prefer to have all the flights with one drone together so I think I'll just leave it as "DJI Device" Or I'll try seeing with DJI support if it's possible to rename old logs too.

That goes against what DUH said and what I am seeing here, all my old logs are under "DJI Device" which was its name up until last night. If your logs are switching to new name, maybe I'm just experiencing a bug? (I hope so, I'd prefer to have them all under same name.)

All of my logs show up under my designated aircraft names, aside from the Avata/Avata 2 which show under those default names.  I have duplicates for Pulsar (a replaced Mavic 2), Proteus ( a replaced Mavic Pro), & Dirty Bird (a replaced Mini 3 Pro).  Two of these are Go4 birds while the Mini 3 Pro uses Fly.

I will state that I typically assign my birds a name immediately after activation & do not change them again.  If you think about it, if it kept the renamed aircraft as a separate log entries, wouldn't all of us would have generic logs from when we initially activated the birds?

Next time I have a bird online I will try renaming it & see what happens after syncing the logs.
