From what I understand it comes with a 16gig card now and they are having some serious sales on sd cards at best buy till sunday. 64gig cards for $38 normally $100 What should I be looking for in a card when buying one? I want to do video and pictures thanks ahead of time and sorry if this has already been covered.

From the published specs:

Supported SD Card Types

SD/SDHC/SDXC Micro SD
Max capacity: 64 GB. Speed: Class 10 or higher

With the high quality video, that would mean a fast write is needed.  I would go with the fastest you can get.
Looking on Amazon, I see most around $109.00.

I purchased a pair of those 64G cards from Best Buy. Should work just fine for the Inspire.

Scratching my head, trying to figure out what the difference is between these two cards.  To me, the Transcend is the better deal, at less than half the cost of the Sandisk.

From the DJI Inspire 1 specs, the max bit rate of video storage is 60 Mb/s.  Since 60 Mb/s is equivalent to less than 8 MB/s, I'm pretty sure that is a typo, as 8 MB/s cannot support 1080p, much less 4K even with H.264 compression.  The minimum bit rate for H.264 compression of 4K video is 30 MB/s, so it is reasonable to assume that DJI actually meant to specify the max bit rate of video storage as 60 MB/s.
This is significantly higher than the Class 10 rating of 10 MB/s that DJI specifies on their website.  My take is that you would be wise to invest in at least a 45 MB/s card like the Sandisk SDSDQXL-064G to ensure you can at least capture 4k video at its most compressed (30 MB/s), but I'm planning to purchase Sandisk SDSDQXP-064G cards once the Inspire 1 ships, because they are the only cards that exceed what I believe to be DJI's maximum bit rate output of 60 MB/s, with the potential for less compression either upon launch, or with future firmware upgrades.

The hero 4 black has the same 60 Mb/s rating for write speed so I doubt the rating is wrong as the both have similar sensors.

I did some tests of older and newer cards tonight. I tested these using a USB3 port on my PC so the interface was fast. I used Crystal Disk Mark to test the write speed.

First test was a two year old San Disk Ultra 32G micro card. Write speed was 11 MB/s (I been using these cards with GPH3 and 808 cameras).

I also tested the new cards I just purchased for the Inspire. I bought a pair of San Disk Extreme Plus UHS-1 64G cards from Best Buy. Write speed tested at 64 MB/s.

Both tests were sequential write tests. Cards are formatted as ex-fat.
If the max write speed of the Inspire is 60Mb/s than that is just under 8MB/s so even the older/slower class 10 cards should be fast enough at 11MB/s.

Does anyone know how many minutes of 4K video will fit on a 32GB, and 64GB card? I'm trying to determine if it's better to have a couple of 32GB cards or one 64GB card, assuming I'll generally be using two batteries per flying session.

With the Phantom 2 Vision+, I could exhaust two batteries filming at 1080P/30 and not fill the 4GB card that shipped with it.

2 hours 13 minutes assuming 4k video onto 64gig card. So a little more than a hour to a 32 gig card.

I don't understand this about 60 mb/s = 8 mb/s and I was under the impression that we would need the faster cards and that compression is variable and that a faster card would allow less compression which would increase quality and reduce recording time.

B is short for byte, which is 8 bits (or 8b), so 60 Mb/s is 7.5 MB/s.  7.5 MB/s can barely support 1080p video, and is not fast enough for 4k video, so it is highly likely that DJI committed a typo when specifying video output bitrate of 60 Mb/s.  It is almost certainly 60 MB/s.  The minimum bit rate for 4k video is 30 MB/s, so if you wish to film at the highest resolution and fastest frame rate offered by the Inspire 1 (UHD (4K): 4096x2160p24/25), you will need to purchase at minimum a card capable of writing at a minimum of 30 MB/s.  That would be a UHS Speed Class 3 (U3) card identifiable by this logo:

I've chosen to purchase cards that can write faster than 60 MB/s in order to support the Inspire 1's maximum video bitrate output.  My hope is that a reduced compression option will be offered that will take advantage of this higher speed either upon initial launch, or through a future firmware upgrade.

Use caution when purchasing, because most cards advertised at a single speed are promoting read speed which is a useless metric for recording, and typically 50% faster than the write speed.  Make sure it specifies a minimum write speed of 30 MB/s.
