Thank you for reaching out. This behavior you're experiencing with the DJI Mimo app is actually by design, and not due to any bug or issue with the app itself. This is normal and DJI Mimo App will not be affected by the mobile device's orientation lock settings. Therefore, the app's UI (User Interface) is special design adaptive display orientation in the app based on the product usage scenarios to make it more suitable for product usage. Thank you for your understanding.

Hi,

No, it's not suitable at all and it's not an acceptable answer.
I'm not moving the product, I'm moving MY TABLET.
So the UI has to stay as I need, and not do as DJI think it is better for me....

Please understand that, we, filmakers, need to lock the screen just because, as creatives, we are sometimes forced to bend ourselves and the screen has to stay in place !
Is it so difficult to understand ? I thought DJI was serious but I'm not sure anymore.

Above this, as users, WE decide to lock features.
But maybe DJI is trespassing other of our permissions on our devices ?....
DJI seems not to as safe as I thought.

Do I have to send these informations to some youtubers who will be glad to know it for shure ?

"DJI Mimo will directly call the mobile phone sensor data to identify the orientation and will not be affected by the mobile phone’s “orientation lock” or “auto rotation” settings."

This is not acceptable. You have to change this behaviour.
It's OUR device, not a DJI one.
User choice has not to be trespassed !

Please kindly understand that us, professionals, are loosing a precious time.

Nathalia, It's now more than 3 months that you tell me the same. DJI release new updates and nothing changes.
Don't you think that we have been patient enough ?

Stop taking us for a ride because we are exhausted.

Users are reporting this for some time now -> https://forum.dji.com/thread-307436-1-1.html
But DJI don't do anything.
It's a so ridiculous thing to correct that can be made in 5 minutes in one hand and drinking a coffee with the other one.

For iOS, you certainly did something like this (in swift)

  1. import CoreMotion

  2. let motionManager = CMMotionManager()

  3. func startMonitoringDeviceOrientation() {
  4.     if motionManager.isDeviceMotionAvailable {
  5.         motionManager.deviceMotionUpdateInterval = 0.1
  6.         motionManager.startDeviceMotionUpdates(to: .main) { (data, error) in
  7.             if let attitude = data?.attitude {
  8.                 // Use attitude.pitch and attitude.roll to determine orientation
  9.                 // Update your UI accordingly
  10.             }
  11.         }
  12.     }
  13. }
Copy the code
Apple will surely be happy to be informed that DJI found a way to override the system-wide orientation lock
