Hi,

I have a folder of video files from my Action 4 on my computer. They play fine on my computer and in various video players like VLC and Windows Media Player.
The metadata for all the files tells me: MP4, 3840x2160 (4K), 59.94 fps.
When I import them into the free DaVinci Resolve they all immediately appear as "Media Offline".

My research thus far told me that MP5 won't work with the free version, but that is not the case here.

Any suggestions ?

Hi there, thank you for reaching and we do apologize for any inconvenience caused. This error usually appears when the built-in decoder for the software/system lacks the ability to decode HEVC. Kindly follow the steps below and test to check which one is applicable for your specific condition :

Method 1
- Search for " HEVC Video Extensions" in the Microsoft Store. After installation, the preview error issue can be resolved under normal conditions.

Method 2
- Convert existing HEVC videos to H.264 videos using " Format Factory " and import them into DaVinci for processing. However, it may effect image quality.

If the issue error still appears, a possible reason for the issue is that the graphics card does not support accelerated decoding. Kindly keep us updated after the testing for us to check further and advise accordingly.

Thank you for your understanding and support!

I went to the Microsoft Store and bought/downloaded/installed their extension for HEVC.
I then went back to my running DaVinci and after a moment the videos updated and appeared as valid media.
Thanks for the insight and solution to my problem !

This is because Windows doesn't have native HEVC/H.265 codec installed. VLC have its own playback codec buildt in.

Great that you got it fixed.
