Today, I took another test flight with the Tello and tried enabling the Cinematic mode in the TelloFPV app. To my horror, I noticed that switching that on completely killed the stick controls on my controller. Luckily I was indoors and alone, so no real danger there, but things could have turned very ugly if that happened outside. Switching back to basic Video mode restored the control.

Anybody else having experienced this? If so, is it a bug or some other problem? If so, did you find a way to fix it so you could both enable Cinematic mode and keep still controlling the Tello with joypad sticks?

Thanks, though it may be I just have to live with it and be careful not to switch the Cinematic mode on. So far, attempts to get help both through the official tech support email and this forums have only been replied with the sound of the crickets.

I've had some small problems with Tello, but nothing overwhelming, and on the other hand I wasn't expecting anything in the class of Mavics or Avatas with this price point.

It did see some use at work though. My employers thought the image quality of Tello is adequate for their purposes (thinking that most of their video watching is made on smartphones, so they think nothing in the class of 4K is not necessary), so they asked me to make a couple of small fights to film their properties for social media. Did a couple of flights and got some footage. My heart did skip a couple of beats when it got near trees, when winds slightly took a grip of Tello (nothing too strong luckily) and changed the course, and when there were a couple of notes of wifi interference errors. But the Tello didn't crash nor get lost, so I guess I can consider these flights as successes. Footage to come into the forums in the near future

Yes. Certainly not expecting anything seriously professional but probably fun for an occasional YouTube video here and there.

A little update to this.

I recently tested activating the Cinematic mode again and, to my surprise, the controls didn't freeze this time. I am not sure what explains the difference or is it just that the earlier case was just a misfortunate accident that cuts the control randomly (it has happened to me occasionally even when noy using the Cinematic mode). What was different related to that was that I was flying outside on a beautiful sunny day with plenty of light, and I started with having no external controller connected to my phone and just later on connected the controller (an 8BitDo controller with wired connection to the phone). Will see if I can determine the cause of the problem and possible solutions later on.
