That would be my guess also.  

We just have to create a mindset that views failure as an opportunity for learning.  Define mistakes as short-term setbacks rather than inadequacies.  Value persistence and resilience when facing challenges.

The heated political rhetoric and the negative media bias is mostly to blame for the assassination attempt.  President Biden's re-election campaign continues to call ex-President Trump evil, a dictator, etc.  He even went so far in a letter to his donors on Monday, July 8th to say - “I have one job, and that’s to beat Donald Trump. I’m absolutely certain I’m the best person to be able to do that. So, we’re done talking about the debate, it’s time to put Trump in a bullseye,” Biden said.

“Today is not just some isolated incident,” said Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio. “The central premise of the Biden campaign is that President Donald Trump is an authoritarian fascist who must be stopped at all costs. That rhetoric led directly to President Trump’s attempted assassination.”

Not a good situation with politics at this time.

The whole situation with the 2 parties beating eachother down on things that don't belong to politics in the first place  is bad for your country (but it's not much better here unfortunately)
No debates on real issues, only trying to talk bad about the other.
I'm very worried where this will take us (with the politics in general moving down the ladder to sketchy bullying instead of debating about important matters).
Apparently this is what the public wants, because it seems to be the only way these days.
We had one main politician being killed some time ago, which is never the solution IMHO.   

And I'm a firm believer of democracy, but this is starting to become less a democracy and I'm almost thinking that we would be better off in a kingdom with no democracy (which is not where I would want to be) as people apparently are so stupid these days and only listen to simple rhetoric, failing to understand the bigger picture.

American politicians are crooked and evil for the most part.  I'm not sure what type of ethics and morality they teach to media majors in college but they must haven't forgotten it all once they get out in the working world.  When I was going to college "Truth", "accuracy", and "objectivity" were the cornerstones of journalism ethics.  That's no longer the case.

I recently read a research article done by a group of social professors and they interviewed over 5,000 people from all walks of life (including people who have been homeless, unemployed, ex-prisoners, young people and ethnic minorities).  Here are the 10 evils they identified.
1 - War and violence
2 - A weakened sense of community coupled with #3
3 - Rise of individualism (people increasingly looking after their own interests without considering the needs of society)
4 - Consumerism and Greed (Everything seems to be based around money and owning things. Companies are demanding to make more and more profits.)
5 - A decline in values (Pursuing their own desires regardless of the potential harm to others. The decline of old-fashioned' values such as honesty, tolerance, empathy, compassion, respect and reciprocity was identified as having damaging consequences for society.)
6 - The decline of the family (Family breakdown and bad parenting were said to underlie many other social problems, leaving young people without guidance and support.)
7 - The Young (Young were blamed for anti-social behavior, binge-drinking, violence and gun and knife crime.  Many responded that "Young people have no manners, no self-control and no respect for anything."
8 - Misuse of Drugs and Alcohol (The misuse of drugs and alcohol were seen as very damaging to society, chiefly because of the links to violent crime and anti-social behavior. Substance abuse was defined as a cause of ill-health, poverty and family breakdown.)
9 - Immigration (Some interviewees saw immigration itself as a social evil. In their view, immigration lead to more competition for limited resources such as housing and jobs.)
10- Crime and Violence (The world is a more dangerous and violent place than it used to be. People expressed anxiety about the perceived prevalence of violence, aggression and crime. Connections were made between drug use, gang culture and crime, with drug use also being seen as connected to prostitution and the sexual exploitation of young girls.)
