This was early on in the session, at the time there were no bank staff up on the hardest part of the course, I took a swim and had to rescue myself.
All I can say is that it's a very good job I wasn't injured stuck upside down or unconscious etc cause the closest staff was halfway down the course
and they couldn't see into the top eddy where I was, it was impossible, not to mention being 35+m away and down a slope.

Oh boy,  I just saw this on YouTube.      Bad to see theres nothing to get out of that section.  

A hairy moment indeed. Glad you came out unscathed.

No doubt the power of the eddy made it difficult to recover when you took the swim.  Glad you were able to eventually recover unscathed.

Yeah, its not a good one to take a swim in.

On most of the drops at least one block has a small lip on in so you can get some purchase with ya foot, but on this top section, well at least on that side, there is just nothing for your foot to grab.

Not only that it's just a bit too tall for me at 52yrs old to pull myself up like one would normally do at a pool.

I did think about going down to the next block but the current was far too strong to walk against. I am just glad it wasn't cold water, the water temp was about 22C last Saturday.

Thanks, yeah it was a wee bit. I was quite glad I wasn't hurt or worse, it was the first time I'd been there and no one had been watching that section, after all, it is the biggest drop with strong eddies on the course.

Yeah, without a doubt, to be fair, I didn't feel that I was in any trouble, I felt in control at all times (except when the roll failed lol) but had I not been, had I been injured or trapped upside down cause I had banged m head and unconscious, then I may well have not been here to tell you about it.  am not being overly dramatic about it as it can happen.  

Just last Wednesday someone crashed into a young person on the Olympic course and broke the kids arm, had no one been watching it could have ended up far worse, you cant help yourself with a broken arm

and sadly, a firefighter died there while doing white water rescue training on the Olympic course, whats worse is that it was a training environment so health and safety would be very tight

Unfortunately, accidents do happen.  The good thing is that kids tend to heal quickly and I'm sure he'll be back on the water in no time.
