I wonder if, once I made a waypoint flightplan and saved it, will i be able to let the I1 flight the route by itself and let me use the second remote just for moving the camera with the sticks instead of the reels of the master. Anybody has tried that?

It makes sense and I'm thinking the same thing. But someone else should be at the first controller or it should be immediately accessible. I think an additional joystick that can be attached to the master controller would be ideal... and have the left dial control gimbal roll.
