Hi all, I've just purchased an Avata 2 and the range is terrible compared to my Mini 4 Pro when tested at the same location. I'm lucky to get 700 metres before it loses signal when operating at say 15 metres altitude.  Sure I can go higher to improve signal but that's not the point of FPV when you want to chase a moving subject along the ground.  I'm in Australia which is an FCC country so I'm wondering if anyone else is having the same issues and any advice / hacks that will fix the problem.

While Australia is an FCC region allowing for a maximum transmission distance of 13km (unobstructed), obstacles, electromagnetic interference, and even weather conditions can affect signal strength. Could you please try lying the Avata 2 in a wide-open space with minimal trees, buildings, or other obstructions? This helps isolate if environmental factors are impacting the signal.

Also, ensure all connections are secure and free of debris. Make sure you have the latest firmware installed on your DJI Fly App and also Avata 2. On the other hand, try different antenna positions to see if it improves signal strength.

Hi Dji Natalia. I recently got an Avata 2 and been testing in the last few days. I am terribly disappointed at the range, as I completely loose connection at about 200/300 meters, especially going around trees or (small) rock formations. This is in a open non urban space, in Europe.

I don’t understand how people achieve the amazing Avata 2 footage I see online, as it seems literally undoable with mine and makes me consider a return. Am I missing anything? Happy to send the footage over if you provide a way.

Hi there, thank you for reaching out and we do apologize for the trouble caused. Could you please check the following details and see if it works:
- Confirm that the aircraft, remote control, and goggles firmware version are all the latest versions . If not kindly update it to the latest versions
- Please check whether the flight environment is open and clear, and whether there is any interference (such as a communication base station, a transmission line tower, and so on).  For DJI AVATA 2, please make sure that the image transmission band is set to auto mode or 40Mhz to obtain the best image transmission signal.
- Check the position of remote controller. point the remote control to the direction of the aircraft to reduce the communication distance.  Please make sure the goggles antenna is well mounted and unfolded, check whether the goggles antenna is damaged. If it is damaged, it needs to be replaced.

If the issue still persists, kindly share us a video showing  the flying environment and flight control data for further check.

Yes, all of that is checked, including updates etc. I do get 60mbs on the googles and then abruptly lose signal at a very unreasonable distance.

Hi Natalia, I have major issues with my drone range too. Often less than 100 meters if there are a few obstacles like filming in a big venue for weddings or events. Im currently in Bali Indonesia and was wondering if this was the reason why?

I have exactly the same problem, I don’t get to see more than 400-500 meters of range. I even purchased the fcc app, but nothing changed.
I am very frustrated with my purchase.

I am in the same boat, all firmware up to date, I get full signal in a fairly open space until 200m and then it completely drops off, I got to 300m once and fortunately had RTH set as it completely lost connection, like another user said, compared to my Mini 4 Pro which is awesome, the Avata 2 is rubbish.....Any ideas/updates.

Same situation 700 max if my lucky day!in the forest, beside the water,on the field (same problems Thailand, Ireland)my mini 2 was much better....
