Based from information I've seen on the internet, the internal storage space is 32Gb. However, when I format mine, it's only 22Gb. Is this normal? That's a lot of missing space.

For confirmation, the actual flash memory space of 32GB is 29.8GB due to varying calculation methods. Additionally, the camera's system occupies some of this space. As a result, the final available space is 22GB. Hope this helps!
