I want to upgrade from my current mini 2 drone. can someone share thier thoughts/ experiances with mini 3 vs mini 4 drones? cost, function, usability? is the mini 4 worth the extra? or would the mini 3 be a good enough upgrade without missing out on to much from the mini 4?

I went from the M2 to the M4, the only downside is the price, its not a cheap bit of kit if you go for the flymore and the RC2 option, but the flight time is better than the M2 that i can say for certain, the range is exceptional and the camera is better in my opinion, its a much better quad but then it should be for the price

I've done it since December from 2 to 4pro and I did not regret for a second, 4 is a huge upgrade over 2

Agree.
I also went from 2 to 4.

Key features:  HUGE increase in range; Better Camera; Aux light on bottom of craft.  I personally don't have much use for "follow me" pictures - - > but that is *me*

Yes, I am sure the 3 has most of these features. . . but it will be obsolete that much sooner.  I hear you on the money side. . . .but I would go for it.

The Mini 3 Pro and Mini 4 Pro have the same cameras so its the other features like OA, vision assist,  waypoints etc that you're getting over the top of the Mini 3 Pro.  If you can wait Mini 5 cant be that far away.

‘Mysterious product’ you gotta love the hype machine, getting my popcorn ready for all those ‘unofficial" leak vids hitting the tube.  Already parted with my last drone & got itchy palm waiting to say take my money just let it have a 1 inch sensor this time.

Hang tight and go for the Mini 5.

Given the mini pro 4 activation issue/debacle current I’d agree but the Air3s is on my target list, mini 5 will really need to be something special to swing it.  It would be better if sub 250 was moved to sub 400g now that would be a sensible compromise but the uk regs are a mess already we should have kept C labels in the middle ground until things apply come 2026 but I’ll not get my soapbox out

It will take a huge upgrade in functions on the Air 3S for me to upgrade from the Air 3 as it does everything I need at this time.  Besides until the Senate comes back from their summer break and irons out the issues with the NDAA and CCP amendment I'm holding off on buying anymore DJI drones or cameras at this time.

Yup politicians that’s a whole conversation piece of its own.  Didn’t jump on the A3 for similar reasons but need a bit more wind resistance flying in the hills, a one inch sensor would be enough for me to jump up after stepping down from the A2 when the regulation issues first started this side of the pond & I got the Mini3pro.  Guess I’m on the bench until DJI drop an email hint out…next week perhaps for start of Sept.

From all the rampant rumors I'd bet the Air 3S will be available early September.  Hopefully, they don't raise the price too much over what it was for the Air 3 at release.  Good luck in your decision on what to buy.

Yup & seeing that gimbal suggests possible vertical shooting if eyes don’t deceive, hopefully we get an earlier release it could be a very long month… safe flying out there.

It's funny how fast rumors fly when at least some of the info has been on the forum for days.

It's definitely not an 'Air 3S' as it only has a 7.3v  1435 mAh battery. A little research of the FCC id and the model number does confirm it's a drone of sorts. Being only 7.3v battery narrows it down to something small. Comparing the battery specs to all of the DJI Mini drones, the DJI Neo is smaller. And even though the Avata 2 was released a few months ago, many manufacturers have produced a tiny whoop using the O3 Air Unit. While DJI is still making money off of the O3 units in those drones, their not making anything off of the drone itself.

But....it's all speculation until DJI makes the official announcement of the 'DJI Neo'.

Based on the battery specs I’d concur but the A3s/4 whatever badge it gets is in the pipe and we are also hitting that new mini release window historically speaking so it’s an interesting time & I will not be parting with cash until the releases become crystal.  If the neo drops it won’t be going in my bag but appreciate others have differing needs/demand. Added to this there are no discounts in the store for A3 or M4P so it’s likely Sept before eitherA3s/4 or M5P firm up as a release short of that happening early Aug.

It will be really interesting to see the official release specs.  I guess DJI's focus is on the soon to be released Neo drone.

We normally get information on new DJI drones much sooner through leaks.  There are several leakers that have an outstanding track record of being 99% right.  So why wait until release day to look on the DJI website.

Yup the official source always seems to be behind the unofficial, expecting the Neo hint email next week & hoping for another mid month for a less mysterious larger quad  product.

I'm with you on that.  I might pick up at Neo just to give it a try.  I could always pass it along to one of the grandsons also.

I updated from the Mini 2 to the 3 Pro.
And even though it's a big update on paper, I found that the Mini 2 was quite a good drone already.
What I'm saying is that you need to be sure you really need the extra bells and whistles because the drone does not make great footage without a skilled operator behind it.
It's not like the improved bitrate will make your videos look much better (for example)

Whilst that holds water I’d say gaining waypoint function is definitely worth the upgrade from a 2 to a 4 alone but it’s going to get difficult to make minis much more functional over another sensor change & APAS tweaks.  I ended up moving on a 4 & selling the 3 it will be a good buddy for a new larger unit that can handle stiffer windage.

Yeah, if you need the bells and whistles, it's worth the money for sure. But I'm 100% sure that a lot of buyers don't need them, but just want 'the latest'.

Just upgraded from the mini 2 to the 4 pro, the quality of images is 2-3 times as good as the 2, only thing i have issues with is the authorisation codes, on the mini 2 my mobile was linked to the remote and i got a message with the code and put it in the dji app and i could fly, i cant do this with the mini 4 obviously because i don't need my phone on the controller, does anyone know how to get around this?
