I'm reaching out to the community for some assistance with an issue I've been experiencing. I keep seeing a warning message on my DJI Fly app that says "connect to DJI Fly outdoors" even though my drone is connected to 32 satellites.
My Avata 2 is fairly new and updated to latest firmware version. I have also tried connecting my Dji Fly app with Googles multiple times but this warning still persists on my screen.

Hi there,

Thank You for reaching out. We are truly sorry for the inconvenience you are experiencing. It seems like a GPS signal issue. GPS signals can be intercepted due to environmental barriers, signal interference and GPS hardware malfunction.

Could you confirm if you were able to successfully link your goggles with your aircraft? Please refer to the user manual on page 20th for the linking process. DJI Avata 2 user manual

Upon linking try the steps below;
1. After linking the aircraft and Goggles with the remote controller or motion controller, Keep the goggles connected to DJI Fly, then test in an outdoor environment with good GPS signal;
2. Keep the goggles connected to DJI Fly, ensure that the mobile device has been connected to a network. If a warning stating “Country code not updated”, please follow the instructions to update.
3. Connect the drone, goggles and the remote controller/motion controller respectively to the DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drone Series) to refresh the firmware when a network is connected.
4. Restart all devices then to try again.

Please do test in an outdoor environment with good GPS signal other than the current location. If issue still persist please reach us back to assist further. We are looking forward to your response for further assistance. Thank You

Hey Dji Gamora

I was out of town so couldn't reply earlier but I tried all the solutions you mentioned above but there has been no resolution to my issue.

It's been less than a month and after 4 5 test flights, twice resetting everything, clearing all data from drone and dji fly app  and taking off at two spots which are approx 1000km apart still I get the same prompt "Connect to Dji Fly Outdoors".

My flight distance setting is max possible and even with 100% rc & goggles connection and 32 satellites, drone doesn't even reach 1km

Was able to resolve this issue although didn't do anything different than my previous tries but followed below steps and this time it worked.

1. Format everything. Internal storage, Sd card, reset all settings, cleared all data from goggles menu basically tried to reach as close to factory reset as possible.

2. Reset Dji Fly app, clearing all data and unbinding the devices from my profile.

3. Did the linking process as mentioned in these tutorials https://support.dji.com/help/content?customId=en-us03400010024&spaceId=34&re=US&lang=en

4. This time did these linking while at a place where I was getting 32 satellites connections constantly, outdoors no obstruction whatsoever

5. And at last connected my goggles with dji fly app, did the binding and the warning prompt "Connect to Dji Fly Outdoors" vanished.

Did a test run later on and and able to fly my drone 2km+ without any signal drop.

One additional info, I was not opting into DJI improvement program while signing into dji fly app previously but this time I gave this app whatever permission it prompted on screen. I'm not sure if this resolved the issue but app being as intrusive as it is already why not one more thing.

Yes, the DJI Avata 2 is crippled (even outside of the USA) without a connection to a device that executes the Android or iOS operating system and the DJI-Fly App.

Without the DJI-Fly app, the Goggles3 will display the following error message":
"Flight restricted. Go to DJI Fly and bind phone number for real-name authentication."

...and your drone will be crippled to 30m altitude and 50m distance.

The DJI Purchase Agreement does not warn the buyer that the uncrippled usage of the Avata2/Goggles33/MC combo requires an additional purchase of a device capable of executing the Android or iOS operating system and the DJI-Fly app.

The DJI-Fly app is NOT necessary for activation of the aircraft nor for the update of its firmware as these tasks can be accomplished with the  with DJI Assistant 2 software which runs on a PC and does NOT require a device which executes the Android or iOS operating system.
You can also activate and update the firmware of the Goggles3 and the Motion controller with the DJI Assistant 2, too.

The file link below is to a 949MB video recorded yesterday in Eastern Europe that illustrates the crippling of the DJI Avata 2 to 30m altitude and 50m distance as well as the aforementioned error message.
