Wow, great capture Mr. B.    That is quite the catastrophic sinkhole.  No doubt that is going to cause lots of issues for commuters and hopefully no damage to the viaduct.

There have been a series of infrastructure failures around here this year.
Decades of Government penny-pinching and general underfunding are starting to manifest themselves.

Don't feel like that only happens in your location.  Our local government has the same modus operandi. Kind of falls into the pay me a little now for the fix or pay me a major amount later when the damage is much worse.

Worst offenders for starting sink holes are burst water mains and pressurized sewer lines.  Making things worse because they usually run under the pavement.

Wow, congrats on completing the 13 mile hike.  

I spent the day loading the last of my range ammo so today is going to be my day out.  I need to get a haircut or else a dog license.    I got in a short walk already this morning (only 3.5 miles).  Today is early voting in our primary election so I need to go get that done also.  Hopefully, I can squeeze in a visit to my favorite hobby shop.

Today I watched myself fly a Mini below a bridge with an even wider gap and I remember feeling much more insecure than flying an fpv drone through a gap 10 times smaller...

Well, here it is barely 9:15 AM and I've got my walk in, got a haircut, and voted.  Hobby shop had a sign on the door that said closed due to death of the owner.  Guess I might as well get out my dive gear and go look for some old Spanish gold.

I kind of gave up on that idea until untethered submersible drones are available.  The divers I know that use them say that having to have it tethered is a pain in the rear and the tether gets tangled quite often.  It would be like flying a drone tethered to the RC by cable.

They shut the M4 (Cardiff to London motorway) to repair a bridge the other month - took six hours to drive from North Somerset to North London!

No, it was a few weeks back in Norway. My daughter told me to fly Mini as well after an fpv long range flight...The problem with the Mini for me is that changing direction is so sluggish that you really need to first fix your point and then go for it straight forward...

Thanks, they've just about fixed this one now - and another burst has occurred just a few hundred metres further up the road.  You couldn't make it up.  Decades of neglect and Government penny-pinching have brought us to this

Yes, it's already available on the commercial scale but the price is way outside what I am willing to pay, especially since I will not be using it for a source of income.  Hopefully, within a few years production will start on the consumer level.

You may wonder.  The bridge will be closed for a lengthy period, even though the leak is fixed.  BUT - and you couldn't make this up - another burst has appeared just 300m up the road, overnight.
SO they're just setting up one-way lights on a third road now.
Much more of this and New Mills will be an island.

No doubt about that.  I'd much rather wait and get one without a tether.  I did contact one of the companies that makes the commercial ones and they said they are currently in the process of tooling up to produce consumer level models. They anticipate consumer product availability for summer 2025.  He said they still had some testing to do.  I volunteered to test beta models for them but all I got was a
