My Mini 3 Pro firmware was still v01.00.0700..

The latest is v01.00.0900, so considering the weather, I decided to go crazy and update both the Rc radio and the drone... (I know what you think @Suren )

While the radio update went well, still takes about half an hour after download to actually update the radio and not sure why, but about 10mb of data where also transfer (uploaded) between the RC and DJI after the installation was completed... I thought the firmware is the only download required, but it seem that there is also an upload required from the consumer... I have no idea what those 10mb of data did contained, but they are now on the DJI server...

It was then the time to update the drone... Again, it tooks ages to download the actual firmware, then it started to upload it into the drone...

Everything seemed right until we got to 80% where the update stayed for about 48 minutes. While looking at the drone I realised that the drone was actually turned off. The two middle LED were flashing, but the drone was actually off.. It appera that in one of those reboot, it just stayed off. So I turned on and waited another 30 minutes, but to no luck as the firmware was still showing 80%.

As the drone was now getting warm, I decide to turn it off again and unplugged... The DJI Assistant 2 was still showing 80% with no drone connected to the laptop...

So I cancel the update and close the application... Started DJI Assistant again and then connected the drone, when it finally recognised the device and gave me the icon to click on..

When I click on the icon to my surprise the drone already had the latest firmware update already installed...

So it apper that because it failed the last reboot, the update stayed at 80%, where if the drone did restart, it would have probably shown me 100% and complete...

So here I'm, writing this "new" experience just in case other people get their firmware update stuck near the end... If it helps, my drone failed the third (and luckly last) reboot...

Don't understand that statement, do you now have a bricked drone ?

It could have been a bricked drone if it did fail on the first or the second reboot, or if the third one wasn't the last one...

That's why I think I was lucky...

It's always tricky when playing firmware roulette.  Every time you just have to hope and pray it doesn’t break anything.

I just had a similar experience with the Mavic 3, but the firmware update did stop at 78%...

Seems with firmware updates you definitely need to have luck on your side.  I hope you are having a great week.

Currently in South East Queensland and it's flooding...

I sincerely hope for the people who live here that it doesn't get too bad... They had a flood even 4 months ago...

Tomorrow I'm going back north, (if it is still possible)...

Living in southern Florida I know very well how devastating flooding can be.  We seem to be a magnet for Hurricanes and Tropical Storms, both of which normal bring deluge of rain with them.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you make it back up north tomorrow.

I would like the firmware to always be uploaded, even if a failure occurs. That is, the drone's operation and the update process were not connected. If the drone's firmware was damaged, its memory would be available as flash memory and would work independently, and it would always be possible to upload the firmware to it.
