I recently lost my Mini 2 drone at sea.

I then bought the new Mini 4 Pro combo, which came with the new remote controller with the LCD screen.

As I have 2 batteries and the old RC1 controller that came with my previous Mini 2 drone, I will sell them at eBay, but I cannot seem to find a way to factory reset the RC1 controller, as I cannot connect it to my new Mini 4 Pro drone - as far as I have researched, they are not compatible.

Any tips on how to factory reset the RC1 remote ?

There is nothing to reset on the RC-N1 controller.
You can not pair the RC-N1 to a mini 4 pro because they use different communication protocols.

My situation is different - I lost my previous DJI Mini 2 drone, but I still have the RC1 controller that came with it.

I now have a new DJI Mini 4 Pro with the new controller with LCD screen.  

I will sell the RC1 controller and just wanted to know if I should/can format/restore this old remote to its factoy settings before selling it. If that's not possible, I will then make sure to delete all videos/photos stored in its cache memory

You can proceed to unbind your DJI RC1 from your DJI Fly app account as per the steps in this site How to Unbind a Device before selling it.
