Guessing im out of luck, my OA3 was used in the garden in the UK at 26degrees and it overheated filming in 1080p 24fps, i found the crack file but it still overheats, is my firmware to new, does it have to be a specific FW for the crack to work if so can i downgradeit?  my OA1 never suffered the issue and im off to Portugal soon where its gonna be in the 30's most days, beginning to regret spending money on this camera,

Thanks for the heads up. I tried it again after more than a year now and it seems to work. I tried it two times just after the latest firmware update last year and it failed than. Maybe I was just doing it wrong or the mimo app interfered....

Hello MiniManiac,

I just did it as it was described in the many crack instructions.

- Download the dji-osmo-action-3-crackconfig.zip (from here and extract it.
- Power off the OA3 and take out the battery.*  
- Copy the crackconfig file from the archive you just extracted to the root folder of your sd-card.
- Insert everything back and power up the OA3.

AFAIK there is no hint that the crack is active. I just works. I did a test recording with 1080p25 with HS on in my living room (at least 28°C atm) and it recorded until the battery was empty after nearly 2 hours (I did not take the exact time).

In the Mimo app I disabled the automatic FW-update in settings. Maybe that was what Lutzmix meant.

*Akku/Accu is the usual german word for a rechargeable battery.

Thanks for that, i did a test at 4k 30fps and with the crack it ran a lot longer than without, in fact as i write this its been running for 55 minutes  with 13% battery left, the only thing i found was that it pops up a message saying device overheated screen will be disabled, but i have it set to go off after 3 seconds.

So yes the crack files works, cant see why the people at DJI cant just write it into the FW

Seems every european version comes with strict EU regulations (48°C max casing outside temperature for cameras). I find DJI being a bit overcautious. The cam never got too warm even with the crack in place during my 1080p test. Did not measure the temperature, but from experience, it was nowhere near 48°C. Maybe at the heatsink (metal lens ring), but It was covered with the rubber bumper, so no big deal).

I am glad, that the crack is still working. Don't know, why it did not before for me, so I lost some shots when I was snorkeling with sea turtles...

Well 2 weeks nearly in Portugal using the OA3 everyday filming in 4K in temps in the 30's and no issues whatsoever with overheating,
