Stony Point Battlefield is a historic site in Rockland County, New York; the location of the 1779 Battle of Stony Point during the American Revolutionary War. It is a National Historic Landmark and has a museum.

Interesting landmark. It could be mistaken for a lighthouse at that distance

Great shot of that historical location.    My grandson is studying the American Revolution in class and they had just gone over the battle at Stony Point so quite the coincidence that you posted an image at this time.

This photo was taken last October while visiting Verplanck Point's Veterans Park which is directly across the Hudson River. I'm glad to hear that our children are still learning American history, hope it stays that way.

When I flew over the area there were no noticeable buildings that denoted a museum either. The lighthouse was the only shot worth taking.  

I flew quite a distance to get to the lighthouse and the one other structure nearby most likely was the museum which was further away. I wasn't chancing my battery to get accurate shot, it might've take away from the lighthouse.

It will be a sad day when they can no longer teach American History in schools.  In this state they even pull books off library shelves that don't meet the desires of elected officials.  Time to vote them out and get some new blood in and no more career politicians.  Sorry, rant over.
