To be honest with it having been in the water I would send it in for repair, attempted DIY repairs could get more expensive than DJI service.
Be aware, if you send it in to DJI  you are unlikley to original drone back, you will probably get a replacement drone, so remove the memory card from the drone.
You can, I think ask for a quote, and DJI repairs are reputed to be reasonably priced.

Hi there,
thank you for reaching out.

We're sorry to hear about the incident. If your aircraft has crashed, it may cause damage to the physical structure and electronic components, posing safety hazards. Water damage can also affect performance, so please send the product back for inspection and diagnosis. You may reach out to our support team for assistance, https://www.dji.com/support.

Should you have any other questions, kindly message us here for assistance. Thank you.

You pay for what you damaged, but they do ask if it's water damaged, so that might just write off the whole unit and incur a higher fee due to unsalvageable parts for other repairs.

Probably quite true but you aren't paying for wrong guesses as to what is damaged and the latter is where DIY costs can mount up.

There's a limit to DIY fixes for problems. An ESC error is far beyond that limit!

The IMU calibration process REQUIRES that the drone be orientated as shown in the various diagrams shown, from memory those diagrams take some studying to ensure that they are correctly followed.
Are you correctly following the diagrams ?

Yes, flat on the ground, powered on and in a closed configuration. It doesn't fail, just never gets beyond step 2 of 5

You are correct and I did NOT do exactly as the illustrations on the remote stated.
I just did so, moving the drone from upright, to the side and the standing on end as the illustrations showed.
Thank you for correcting me, it is now calibrated.

No problem, as I recollect I got stuck too on the first few attempts.
