Flying missions in Dual Operator Mode

Hi there,
I gather that Advanced Dual Operator Mode is mainly advantageous for manual flights where one controller operates flight controls and the other controller has gimbal controls. I am trying to understand whether using two controllers (two pilots) can help extend the range of automated mapping missions (while of course maintaining VLOS). There was a 2021 post on Candrone that explained this idea but noted that "Advanced Dual control only works in the manual flight as of now."

So if we link two controllers to our M300 RTK, will DJI Pilot 2 refuse to upload/fly a mapping mission? Or will it begin the mission but stop as soon as Controller A loses connection?

Ideally, after the mission is initiated, it would fly uninterrupted while staying linked to whichever controller(s) it can. Perhaps it is possible to pause the mission in an area where the pilots have overlapping VLOS, "hand off" the drone, and then resume the mission with the other pilot...?

I don't know your local regulations but in Europe, it's not allowed to hand over control ( unless SORA but good luck with that ).

About your question : we flew previously our M300 with 2 RCs Enterprise ( one for PIC, one for monitoring on big screen ). You can start a mission with one, the other won't be able transfer or resume if contact is lost...unless you don't need RTK and allow continue ( we didn't try that ).

The solution we now use : 4G Enhanced Data Link.

Thanks! It seems that in the Canadian Aviation Regulations for remotely piloted aircraft (901.42), handovers are OK as long as the pilots have pre-arranged it before takeoff.

So the drone won't be able to keep communicating with the D-RTK2 if the first controller loses its link to the aircraft, but you could potentially continue the mission with single point positioning. The controller is the middleman for RTK but I wonder if during a mission pause the second controller could take over RTK communication, particularly if the initial controller is disconnected or off.

We're flying in remote areas without cellular network coverage so I guess the 4G solution won't apply.

We didn't test that, if you do please share :-)

Also on previous RC Enterprise when contact was lost the other controller couldn't restart from break point. You had only manual control or restart a new mission.
