I've seen a single thread talking about Carbon fiber exoskeleton which is placed on the undercarriage of the Avata 2 and I think most people thought it was expensive and a waste since it could mess with range and also weight.

Anyone have been using rubber "bumpers" around the prop guard? I've seen plenty on amazon but since the antennas are inside the prop guard would that also mess with the range?

I have tried using the gimbal bumpers on the original avata but it wasn't doing much in collisions since if you were coming at a small angle it could impact somewhere else and it broke after one use so I know these are worthless

I think I'm trying to over-engineer it since my first avata 2 was crashed in 2 weeks.

There is nothing you can add to Avata 2 to make it more durable. By adding weight you're decreasing performance (especially if it's offsetting its center of gravity), likely decreasing signal (especially with carbon fiber), and adding more kinetic energy into your crashes. The only thing you can theoretically achieve is to redirect that energy into another section of the drone which might break a less expensive part, but if it's gonna break, it's gonna break, and Avata 2 frame is pretty much a single part anyway.
The only "protection" worth having is a filter on your lens, because damaging a filter is much cheaper than damaging the actual lens.

I had the filters in my cart unsure if I should buy them right away but thanks to you I'll buy them right away, after all you said and my very light research beforehand I don't see the point in bulking up my drone to make it thougher that's right.

I never even thought about the fact that adding weight also adds more kinectic energy to the crash great insight thank you

ND filters are good to have in general since it's a fixed aperture camera so you can't get natural motion blur without them, but even if you don't care about that, get some cheap 3rd party UV or CP filters from Amazon at least to use as lens protectors
