Like the title says, I tried to repair the Avata 2 on my own but ended up breaking something and instantly dropped the idea of doing it myself. I made loads of repair on the original Avata I thought I could manage since I didn't have care but I didn't manage to do it. The piece that was broken was an arm/bottom shell but I damaged the upper shell by messing with it which was not damaged before the crash.

Will DJI repair a drone that's been damaged by home-repair or do they have some kind of policy against it?

I already bought a new unit with care refresh so I was wondering do I drop it completely or the repair could cost less than a new unit because I still could re-sell it or keep in case.

In theory, I'm pretty sure DJI Care rules state that you're not supposed to modify or repair the drone in any way. In practice, I found it's pretty relaxed though. I have for example sent them multiple "naked" (taken apart to save weight) O3 Air Units and they replaced them for free, even though there isn't even DJI Care for those. DJI's customer service is pretty epic.

Hi there,
thank you for reaching out.

Attempting repairs on your own is not advised due to the potential damage from unauthorized modifications, disassembly, or opening of the shell contrary to official instructions or manuals. We recommend sending your aicratf for maintenance should your drone require future repairs. Please review the Terms of Service of your DJI Care for your reference.

Thank you for your understanding.
