Thanks, I have a few older homes lately. Staten Island is aging and retiring. Many are moving down to your area.

You're welcome Charles.  Seems to be a theme that as we age we try to migrate to warmer or at least no snow locations.

I know that when I retired out of the Northern Virginia area my goal was to find a location that offered sunshine, fairly good weather and ZERO snow. Sometimes the humidity is a bit overwhelming but it sure beats shoveling snow.

Thanks it all depends on where the trees and wires are. Most of the areas where I am, the losts are 50 by 100 ft with trees and wires and you have to pick where you can go up. It's not always pretty.

I totally agree with that. I am waiting to see where the kids settle. They are ont there own but are renting at this point. Once I know where they are settling I can make an educated decision

When I retired my older kids stayed in Northern Florida.  However, after a winter or two more they also migrated down to Florida.  One was a patent attorney and had no problem finding a job and the other is a RN with trauma and ER experience so she had no problem finding a job either.

My Daughter is an RN going for her PA. My son is a camera man for CUNY TV. It's a first real job, so I don't know where he will wind up.

I'm happy that they are happy with their choices. I'm here to help of they need it. They are both independent and I'm proud. That's the job of a parent.

I'm a bit upset with myself this morning.  Heavy thunderstorms rolled in and will remain until mid-afternoon so the charter boat Captain cancelled today's fishing trip.  I could have sworn I did the booking for Sunday which turned out to be a really nice day.  Anyway, now I'll have to try to schedule again on a weekend when the two grandkids that want to fish are available.  Between their school activities and sport's activities they have limited time for an all day deep sea fishing trip.

Yeah, I was really bummed over the cancellation.  No doubt I gooned it by not making the reservation for Sunday which was my intention to begin with.  Oh well, I've got plenty of indoor work to get done anyway.

Yeah, I put it on the back burner for now until the 2 grandkids can give me their availability window for a different weekend.  

Oh wow, I just saw a long snake slithering across my path between the dock and my storage/garage building.  I'm going to head out there and have a little target practice.

Okay, I just dispatched a 4 and a half foot long rattlesnake.  He was none to happy to see me show up with my pistol pointed at him.  Now I just have to dry off my pistol, my phone camera lens and change out of these wet clothes.

I've had it before and your right tastes a bit like chicken or even turtle.  It's lots of work to skin them and then fillet along the backbone.  But if you let them marinate overnight they can be quite the delicacy.

I had to help catch and eat one as part of leadership group training in a boys camp when I was young.  A loot of work for a fairly plain dinner, but it was an experience. We called the rangers and hed them take the venom for anti venom,  We made a belt of the skin.

That was a great idea on saving the venom and also saving the skin for a belt.  One time I priced a pair of rattlesnake skin boots - wow, they were expensive.  It does take a lot of snakeskin to make boots but for $1200 they stayed in the store.

I met a snake wrangler in a trip to Arizona years back.  That guy had an amazing collection of snake skins and almost as many snake stories.

They make for some good stories. When I was younger I was part of a volunteer ambulance squad and we had a park ranger that had loose snakes in his house. Whenever we got a call to go there I always stood in the middle of the room where there was clearance from his huge Boa pet. Very odd.

Growing up on a farm I saw more than my share of snakes, mostly rattlesnakes and water moccasins.  I've never been a fan of something that rattles or hisses at you.  They do make good targets though.
