Ah, admit it, it was you with the Avata leaving the scorched earth!! Okay, I see the actual machine - though not its purpose.

Very cool clips DA.    Those are some really oddly shaped trenches on that farm land.  Just baffles the mind why he'd do that.

Seeing that expanse of farmland from that perspective, it does look like he's trying to drain the wettest patches.

I don’t think he’s finished.  The machinery was left out all weekend.

I walk a loop around there most days weather permitting,  and the people I see I often seen or they leave me alone.    If I go there in the afternoon I quite often get people ask about the drone etc.  But no Karens there yet.

Maybe he was just practicing with it to see how well it would ditch and if the ditches were effective during heavy rains.

I read last night that they are looking to develop a lot of the land around the castle into residential and community areas,    the backlash in the comments was huge already.    It may be related to that as they night have to figure out different drainage.

Its not good,  although I see on he detailed plans the old roman foundations will be left alone,    no way they would get planning to build there Im sure.

I probably worded that wrong,  it's the land owner that wants to sell/develop it,  but people that walk there will feel like its their open spaces as the right to roam there has been in effect for hundreds of years.

Okay, I can see why they'd be up in arms about the land being developed.  However, unless your laws are totally different the landowner can sell or develop at his option.

They require two things from the local council.   planning permission for what they want to build,  and in this case a change of use from agricultural to residential.   with that will come a lot of land surveys,   flood assessments,  various impact studies,   depending on what mood the council are in at the time.

Somewhat of a similar process here.  However, I've seen land change from Agricultural use only to Commercial development overnight.  The county gets about 4 times as much in taxes off commercially developed land than agricultural use land.  No doubt some money might be exchanging hands under the table also.

That certainly does happen,   I knew a guy that had a shop that sold fireplaces,  he wanted a change of use to make the shop into a bar/restaurant,   he tried three times and it was never granted so he sold it and bought somewhere else.    The new owner had approval 2 weeks after the purchase was complete for a bar,  even had the previous owner come back and paid him to build the bar to match the fireplaces he had built in the shop.

Both was the rumour,    the previous owner was really annoyed about it,   but on the flip side for a while it was a good restaurant,  with good live music and Spanish food.  And on fireworks night I always managed to get the table in the window so we could watch the local firework display for free over a meal.

No doubt you had to get there early to get that table with the prime view.

Maybe by now he's connected it to the existing ditches,  Ive been away so dont know the progress yet.
