Hi everyone!
I’m having some trouble with the low battery Return to Home (RTH) feature on my DJI Avata 2. Specifically, I find it challenging to disable the automatic RTH when the battery is low. Additionally, I’m looking to set up a custom low battery alert, like at 35%, but I can’t seem to find a way to do this.
Has anyone else experienced this issue or found a workaround? Any advice on how to better manage low battery warnings and control the RTH settings would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Automatic RTH depends of distant from Home point, not just some % of battery. But you can cancel it any time. That I'm not suggesting...

I've cancelled mine a few times only because when it gets to approx 50% battery strength I fly it close to home and then land at my discretion.

Fly in full manual with the FPV RC3 - then low battery is nothing more than a pop up warning on the screen and doesn't initiate RTH. If using the motion controller press the black flight mode button to cancel without braking the drone. Pressing the orange button also brakes the drone as it cancels.

I think with MC3 I can't press Mode button to cancel RTH (when it says "RTH in x sec, press Mode to Cancel") - I have to relase throttle before... very bad.

Ah yeah, slightly release the tension on the throttle so the drone starts to slow down (rather than come to a complete stop) then press the black flight mode mode button and it will cancel low battery RTH while the drone is still flying forward.

Thanks @Captain! You help me understand things a little better! Unfortunately, I am a professional pilot, but I don't fly in full manual mode. I think What I am trying to highlight here is a very dagerous decrease in safety features that were available in previous generation of dji drones and that are dangerously disapearing : For example, In the Mavic 2 we were able to set up 2 levels of low battery alert : Low battery warnoing (that I usually set up to 30%) and Criticall battery warning (15%). Now with the Mavic 3, there is no customization of this type of alerts. And Specifically with the AVATA 2, I don't have the choice to disable the auto RTH, and it is very difficult to regain contyrole once it is launched! For example : I am flying in a forest : I don't want RTH at all, and the drone will still try to RTH with low battery...

While I think it would be advantageous to have the option to disable low-battery RTH, I've never had any problems cancelling RTH when it kicks in.  You get a warning count-down before it engages, which gives you enough time to move to a slightly more open spot, and then you can immediately cancel it once it begins.  You write that, "it is very difficult to regain control once it is launched", but this should not be the case.  Just one button press on your controller is all it takes to cancel.

Although we can't disable the low battery RTH, are you aware that we do have options for the loss-of-signal RTH?  If signal loss occurs, you can instruct the drone to either land or hover, instead of RTH.  When flying in a forest I set it to hover, and hope that I can move closer to the drone and regain signal before the low battery RTH kicks in.  Mind you, I've had problems regaining control from hover (with the Avata1), even when the signal improves.

That is a good point as I have seen a number of crashes on YT caused by low battery RTH whereby the drone has suddenly flown up into a tree canopy. The key is to press that button during the countdown but that's about as good it gets with the Avata 2 to stop it flying back using the motion controller. Perhaps the option to change it to land or hover as there is with signal loss may be better.

yes I second that the hover on low battery. the only time I had a down avata 2 was because of low battery RTH.

I just tried and wasn’t able to cancel the RTH during the warning count down. I says (in french) Appuyez sur le bouton « Marche Arrêt » pour désactiver le RTH and I guess they mean the « power button » so I tried to press the RC power button : nothing, then the Google 3 power button : nothing… The RTH Kicks and the I wasn’t able to regain manual control to manually do ma landing… I will try the "pause button" and if it doesn't work, then I am going to escalate that to DJI support, maybe it is a specific problem with my drone.
Yes by the way, I am aware of teh options for the loss of signal RTH and mine is always set on "hover" as I am most of the time flying at low altitude next to trees and potential obstacles on top of the drone;-)

Which button to press during the count down? Unfortunately, I don't think we have the possiblity to choose hover or land when the low battery Kicks in... this is only possible with the signal loss.

It tells you in the goggles when countdown starts, press the mode button once to cancel countdown. If the RTH already started, pressing either mode or lock buttons will cancel it.

Wow!!! Actually, I think the French version of DJi Fly has a problem because they are referring to the " Power button"!! Is there a reward when someond find a bug like that in DJI's equipments? lool

I cancel the low battery RTH alert almost every time I fly.  I *never* all the Avata to fly home by itself.  When I get the countdown and the alert, I cancel it and then I come home; usually I am really close because I work my way back.  I don't cancel so I can gain more flight time unless the drone is within 50 feet where I sometimes take the battery down to 8%.  If you cannot cancel, something is wrong.

Same thing, I always fly my drones back in manual mode. The thing here was DJI Fly warning message in french giving me wrong instructions on how to cancel the RTH...! Be safe! Thanks for the message!

I know - that is why I clearly stated "perhaps the option to change it to land or hover as there is with signal loss may be better" i.e. for DJI to give us that option in a future update
