How do I set *locked* gimbal, NO movement, HANDS FREE shoot?

Can't find this very basic requirement set-up anywhere -
I need to set my Pocket 3 at side of stage of a live performance for and entire 60+ minute show, capturing a single, static shot
whilst I operate a camera manually elsewhere.

I can't find any gimbal mode that allows you to lock ALL gimbal movement - there is only a lock option via pressing a button manually
and then it is unlocked when you release.

There must be NO gimbal movement, NO gimbal "drift" for this purpose and NO requirement to hold down a button.

Please advise how to set this device for zero gimbal movement during the entirety of shot, with no requirement to manually operate it after hitting "record".

Many thanks!

Not possible unfortunately. There is no way to lock the gimbal without continually holding the joystick button in. Hopefully will be included in the next firmware update.

Wow....A key function of ANY video camera is to be able to set the device up as a B-roll static camera.
DJI Team
PLEASE address this!
..................................
1.  How does one directly communicate with DJI about this?

2.  What are the absolute optimal settings to use to minimise gimbal drift for static continuous shooting purposes?

I honestly can't believe this extremely basic ability has not been built into the OS of this otherwise excellent video camera.

Hi there,

I saw a thread dated in 2023 regarding this simple "feature" that is tragically missing from this device. To be honest it is a shame that DJI did not addressed this simple query as they already offer it by pressing the joystick button which means that it can be done simply by a software update..

I really hope that in near future we will have this option added through a software update especially that can be a decision maker in buying this product or not.

Kind regars,

There *has* to be a workaround, surely

If you need a camera to take a static shot then don’t expect a camera designed for smooth motion shots to be the camera for the task. Use ANY other camera for the task.

The request is a reasonable and easily implemented one.
Your comment is unhelpful.  Cheers.

Jesus man, stop your whining. The rest of us have had to put up with it. No, there is NO workaround for it either. If you don't like it, buy another camera, and this time, do your research as to which features it has or doesn't have!

I'm not interested in hostile interactions such as yours, but let me clarify:

I understand the gimbal based image stabilisation of this device is an integral thing.  I am not requesting that the image stabilisation should have a disable option.  I'm pointing out - and I should have been clearer - that gimbal drift does happen, which compromises a key function:  Being able to set the device down and shoot a static shot continuously as a B-roll camera.  There is no reasonable argument that gimbal drift cannot or should not be addressed for this purpose, and adding in a function that prevents gimbal drift is an additive, not subtractive function.  By all means comment further, but please do so with with either a reasonable counter-argument or with advice on optimal settings to prevent gimbal drift.  Thankyou.  Note that I haven't used a negative or hostile tone.

PS I will add to my OP with the above clarification.

I don’t think there was any part unhelpful? If you said when hand holding i would love a more stable experience for a brief static shot i get you.  The dead band of the gimbal is not adjustable leaving to overly twitchy shots. But to have the gimbal stay locked off for a period of time to get a static shot is an unreasonable expectation. Use a normal camera on a tripod, job done, You simply expect the OP3 to do a task it was not designed for.

Not sure if I understood correctly but have you tried new FPV+ (FPV-⊥) mode? Set gimbal (rotational) speed to fast and you can use it like a regular camera (point and shoot). Always levels the camera with the screen direction.

Hope this helps.

Hi there, thank you for reaching out. Regrettably, Pocket 3 doesn't have a built-in mode specifically designed for gimbal lock. You can only lock the gimbal manually via pressing the button. However, we will consider this as a suggestion. Your valuable feedback will be promptly forwarded to the relevant team for a thorough evaluation.

Thank you for your understanding and support!
