I was about 9 miles from the drone,  I was tracking it on AIS.

Yes,  they turn it around the same day for the short cruises.     She was annoyed as she was on car park duties where you dont get the tips you do when you're on the ship.

I remember seeing Dustin Dunnill video on YT showing his range test with his Mavic Pro 3 and it reached nearly 10 miles before returning to the home point - unbelievable

My Mini 3 tends to use up the battery at 8 miles of flight although that is landing at 25% available.
