Why are .mov and .mp4 videos distorted except in QuickTime?

I shot videos in both .mov and .mp4 formats. They look fine in QuickTime Player but have distortion and artifacts in Final Cut Pro and in Movavi. Any suggestions as to why this is occuring? I quess they are moire lines? Thanks in advance.
