This is serious and material; we'll now we have update our maintenance log that this issue exists. For those with FAA Title 333 Exemption (as with relying on an iOS device that had iOS 9 pre-installed), are you recommending we ground ourselves until this issue is resolved? The last thing we need is the FAA to get involved should a registered flight go awry. My livelihood is compromised as a result... at what point can we expect a resolve?

In defense of both DJI and Apple... I am sure neither company anticipated the issues that some users ...

Well its not possible to revert back to 8.4.1 simply because you have a  old backup, Apple needs to still sign the old IOS 8.4.1 for one to be able to revert back to that older IOS.
Unfortunately Apple is not signing 8.4.1 anymore so its not possible to go back from IOS 9.
I think signing stopped September 30.

And the thing about it being optional to upgrade to IOS 9 and that its possible to wait is not an option for everyone.
People seem to forget that some people have bought their Apple units with IOS 9, for example that was my case and if i had the chance to revert back my ipad mini 2 IOS to 8.4.1 i would have done that, but unfortunately i bought it after September 30.

Downloaded DJI GO 2.3.0... iOS 2.0.2 is on my new iPhone 6s Plus.  Go app crashed 60 seconds into my flight...said disconnected.  I closed and reopened while my P3P hovered over my head and the app was unable to reconnect.  I had to land and turn everything off and start it all back up before I could get the p3p and the go app to connect to each other again.  Sorry...but my experience is...the new update did not fix the problem...at least my major problem.  I can't have my app crashing in the middle of a flight.

Ahh yes!  It was a typo, sorry.  It's 2.3.0...the latest that was downloaded either late on Oct. 5th or early Oct. 6th.  I'm not sure...it was updated automatically.  I have a 32 GB card in it that was empty at the time.

Yeah we'll have to see.  It's frustrating.  It's a brand new phone and everything else on it works perfectly.  I've had the DJI GO app shut down on me multiple times during flights.  That's not cool.  I don't fly with confidence when it keeps doing that and I was hoping the new update would fix it but it didn't.

Based on the mixed feedback from forum members, I don't think we can give a green chit to DJI GO 2.3.0. Please HOLD ON to your iOS 8.4.1 and old app, NO RUSH to update yet.   Please keep giving your feedback about your flying experience along with the iOS device and OS used. My current suggestion is based upon limited feedback and conclusion may not be totally correct but that's what we can think of right now.

It would also be helpful to point out whether any problems started with iOS 9.x and app 2.3.0, or were they pre-existing problems that the upgrades didn't fix.

Problems had started with release of iOS 9. DJI Go 2.2 with iOS 8.4.1 was very stable. We expected DJI Go 2.30 would resolve instability issues mainly related to videos. Some have reported improvement in 2.30 while others ate still facing issues.

My gut feeling was that release 2.30 is really a good one but others didn't feel so. We are back to square one until we get considerable feedback stating all is well with 2.30.

It may be a worthwhile getting a statement from DJI at this stage before it gets too late.

Had my first crash today.

Up until now I was borrowing an iPad mini 2 cellular with IOS 8.4.1 and DJI GO 2.2.0. I have had 70+ flawless flights with that combination.

I finally had a chance to get out with my new iPad mini 4 cellular. I took it to my favorite test flight area which is a mostly wide open field of at least 5 acres. Performed all pre-fight checks. I recalibrated the compass prior to this flight as I had some minor drifting issues in the last few flights. After the calibration compass Mod readings were 1496-1502.

The flight with the first battery went well. At 1:05 minutes into the second battery the screen flashed a compass error, the app announced ATTI mode, the aircraft yawed 180 degrees and sped off into the nearby trees. I have some experience with ATTI mode, but everything was happening so fast and the aircraft was pretty much unresponsive to my feeble attempts at control. It crashed into a tree, made a horrible noise, fell about 15 feet, made another horrible noise and came to rest with the motors trying to spin with the Phantom tangled in branches and vines.

After reading many crash stories, I ran to it expecting to see a camera separated form a broken gimbal and several pieces of the aircraft lying about. Instead it was intact! I quickly turned it off and extracted it from the vegetation. Everything looked OK except for a little dirt here and there.

I test flew it for a few minutes after thoroughly inspecting it. It flew fine with the camera and gimbal working as expected.

I cannot explain the reason for the compass error and fly away. The variables that are different from all my other flights are the iPad, IOS and app versions. I did have only 16 satellites where I normally get about 19-20, but I am pretty certain that did not have anything to do with the erratic behavior.

I did luck out this time. I was also lucky that all of this occurred only about 100 feet away from me and 30 feet in the air. Not sure what I should do at this point.

I just took mine out again and went through 2 batteries.  The flights were fine except for the fact that the app completely closed on me 6 times.  I kept the P3P very close to me and got some delicate up close shots so it wasn't too big of a deal but it's uneasy when your second set of eyes disappears.  I'd say there are still definite issues with the app.

flew about 20 minutes - iphone 6 plus 64gb, ios 9.0.2 nothing but the DJI Go 2.3 app running. I tried to take a screen shot and managed to close the screen. when sliding to open, the DJI Go app was running but reports the signal lost and no video feed. The remote control worked fine without FPV, so I flew it back landed without a problem.

I do notice erratic requests for compass calibration, which I do. 9.0.2 + 2.3 seem to be completely functional, but a bit unstable. perhaps 9.0.3 and 2.3.1 ?

I was advising others not to upgrade from iOS 8.4.1 to iOS 9.0.2 but I wanted myself to take lead for testing and upgraded all my SW. Now after reading these crash stories, don't feel like flying my P3A with upgraded SW. I m stuck.

One observation: I got a request to recaliberate iPad Mini Compass when I connected controller to P3A after upgrades which I had never seen it since I bought it two years ago.

I can't go back to iOS 8.4.1 but even if I do it I can't get DJI Go 2.2.0 app now.   Only option left to me is to wait until DJI comes out with a real good solution. I have grounded my P3A at least for a month now.

I run the DJI app on a Airpad2 running the latest 9ios and the latest version of DJI Go. Have had no problems whatsover on thre last four flights using the latest versions of the ios and app.
Before this, using the older versions and a Samsung S 8.4 I had vision loss on nearly every flight, though still retained control. Before this I used a Nexus 7 v2 and had only one vision loss in 20 flights.
The worrying thing is that the conflicts/failures of the DJI Go are not consistent, some people have had major problems since upgrading others like myself no problems, cross fingers. I'm doing some long flights over water tomorrow so hope all goes well as usual.
The longest flight with everything working is 3.5km using the Airpad 2.

Hi.
Maybe this is reason, why somebody have issues and some not.
I have only enabled "find my iPhone" in location services - system services my iPhone 6+ and i don't have any issues.
Maybe the Symptom / Reason is "Compass Calibration, Motion Calibration and Wi-fi Networking"
I hope that somebody will try this solution.

Hi

Maybe I don't understand how this area of the forum works, but I thought this part was for Inspire related discussion.

AOPISA:

"with the motors trying to spin with the Phantom tangled in branches and vines."

My understanding was that the Inspire with the latest firmware will stop power to the motors when they come across resistance.

Was this incident involving either an inspire or the latest firmware?
On second thoughts... it's all linked.

Carry on sir

Right! I saw a post about the high Kp index right after I posted my compass error fly away. I usually check space weather.com to see what the solar activity is. We live high enough north that we can see auroras if we have a strong geomagnetic storm. I'm just not in the habit of checking during the day before I fly.

I hope that was the cause and just an anomaly.

Controller has powerful GPS tracking system and communicates with P3 for all locational changes. iPhone/ iPad is used just to run App to display geo positions, collect parameters settings. Why do we need to enable "Find My Phone" which is just a service used by Apple?

At the most we will need compass information from iPhone/ ipad to set the correct directions with respect to P3.

I have been having several issues since upgrading to the latest IOS. Including, flickering video and 'poor signal' when only a foot away from my Inspire. The biggest problem has been the DJI GO app just quitting with no error. When it does this, the video file is corrupted. I lost three unreplaceable nature shots this morning. Can I go back to IOS 8? Another thread implies that I can't do that anymore. If it is possible to go back, how do I do it? (I know this is not an Apple forum, but my Air 2 is the only Apple device I have, just for the drone, and I am a newbie with the iPad)

You can't go back to iOS 8 officially but their are ways. One of them is look for an iPad on Craigslist or eBay or go for jailbreak. I'm not familiar with jailbreak process but people do it. Think positive.....Have faith in DJI, they  will get you good solution sooner or later.
