I think a clean MANUAL install of everything is required to get things working right.  Just like when your OS goes bad, a clean install is always the best thing to do.  When I turned on my bird today I found it had automatically updated itself somehow from v1.3.20 to v1.4.0010 (latest) and I did nothing to initiate this.  So, I went ahead and just bit the bullet, installed iOS 9.1 and then upgraded the RC unit.  It was still giving me black screens, dropouts, signal loss, and so on.  Worse even yet, on a test flight whenever I would yaw left or right the camera would move violently from side to side and the yaw function seemed really out of whack though all settings were normal.  I grounded it and then did the following which seems to have sorted it out.

Updated iOS 9.1 (already).
Deleted DJI GO from my iPad.
Hard reset of my iPad mini 2 after deleting app.
Downloaded and installed DJI GO 2.4.0.Hard reset of my iPad mini 2 after installing app.
Downgraded FW from v1.4.0010 to v1.3.20.
Boot up, check everything on v1.3.20, all settings good.
Short test flight, all was okay, but now RC says FW and Camera upgrade required.
Installed FW v1.4.0010 again MANUALLY from a freshly formatted card.
Reset, re-calibrated everything.
Turned off hardware encoding on my iPad mini 2.
Flew up 200 meters and out 300 meters and all seems good.
A three battery test flight tomorrow will confirm but it seems good as of now and might be sorted out, we shall see!

Just turn on your drone and wait 1 min. Dont turn on the RC.
Make sure to use the sd card with the firmware inside.

I put the SD card in with the previous FW and it downgrades to that FW.  I don't think this is needed though, if you are on iOS just hard reset your iOS device after you delete the DJI GO app, and hard reset it again after you download and install it again.  This has resolved all issues for me.

Confirmed all issues resolved.  The manual reinstall and hard reset (iOS device specific) seems to have sorted my bird out 100%.  Two full batteries today, rock solid performance, no signal loss, no video dropouts, no glitches, flew up to max altitude and out 750 meters with no issues.  This could be the final firmware update for my bird.

Phantom 3 Pro
iOS 9.1
iPad mini 2 WiFi only, 16 GB (bought for P3P use only)
Firmware_v1.4.0010
DJI GO 2.4.0
Windsurfer Signal Booster (these work very well)

Right now I would not.  Keeping my iPad mini 2 on 8.4.  I am testing a mini 4 on v9.02.

Any update on your testing? Any word if folks are ok to update yet? I am waiting on iPhone 6+ firmware update solely because of my phantom.... Don't want to deal with all the nonsense tricks ppl are dealing with to fly. Would like to update and go... Have been waiting over a month to update. Thx in advance

I flew my iPad mini 4 now on iOS 9.1.  Go App v2.4 .  The only issue I had was with the RC upgrade.  It would upgrade and ask me to power cycle, I did and then it would ask me to upgrade again.  I finally solved that by connecting an Android phone with v2.4 and though the RC update failed when I reconnected the iPad it reported the correct firmware and did not prompt for an upgrade again.  DJI is aware of this and is working on a fix.  I have used the App so far with my P3P, my OSMO and LB2.  I will not be able to fly my Inspire until this weekend.

I just got my P3P with an iPad Air 2. The Air 2 has OS9.1 and Go App 2.4, and I downloaded the latest firmware BIN files onto the SD card that came with the P3. Followed the instructions, and the RC updated, then did the bird and every thing went through smoothly. Took it out to fly and the whole package works like a charm. What more can you ask? I am in Lurve....

Nope, won't hurt any data.  Hold down the home button and power button at the same time until the screen goes black and then you see the white apple boot up logo then let go of both buttons.  That is a hard reset.  

I flew another full 3 battery test today, and went out 5500 feet at max altitude of 1640 feet with ZERO glitches, 100% signal throughout all three batteries, no dropouts, no signal loss, nothing.  My iPad seems to be running much cooler as well.  For the first time I feel like I can rely on my bird now.  I didn't even put the windsurfer booster on there so I can imagine I could double that distance with it on.

This seems to be the way to go and probably will be the last firmware update I do on my iPad and the Phantom, unless they remove the 500 meter limits which I doubt they will ever do because DJI is controlled now by the U.S. Government.

Duely101, Thanks for the fast reply. I know how to do that reset, will give it a try. I am having the same problems you had, hope it also works for me.
                 I had my phantom pro 3 since the DJI Pilot App. It worked the best for me with the Pilot app., after the newer apps I had multi problems with the FPV display.

I have all of the latest...iOS is latest...Go app is latest...using iPhone 6s Plus.  Took my P3P to Lake Eerie today...about 3 hours from my house.  I flew for 2 minutes before it lost connectivity.  Thank goodness it was close and I was able to bring it back.  Didn't spend $1400 to be paranoid to let this thing get more than 50 feet from me.  What good is a 1.2 mile range if you're scared to death to let it leave the ground.  Issues are NOT resolved.  They may be better and less frequent but they are NOT fixed.

Your statement confuses me. Are you saying we should avoid using old devices with DJI Go app? Or we have known risks with old devices like iPad mini 2.

Not sure why people risk these crappy DJI updates. I keep one ipad and one quad together with not updates. That one fly's great. Why risk DJI screwing it up, or taking away an ability? We know they won't cover any issue you have with their bad 'updates'. If you truly need your phantom/ipad combo to work for "business"; I'd just let it rest with a good config; lock it in place so to speak with that image.

Hi Mike. I'm using iOS 9.1 and I'm with a lot of lagging issues. I don't recommend you update your device unless you have an option to come back it. I' m trying to solve that problem with the support team right now. When I'm trying to flight in P-GPS the problem is worse. I'm very disapointed..

Do the ill effects of the upgrade seem to be more prevalent on certain devices?

I'd like to upgrade but don't want to adversely affect my ability to use the Phantom which is working well on 8.1.3, aside from occasional shutdowns of the DJI GO app which are easily recovered from in flight by just restarting the app.

leave it the way it is. unless there is something you really need... it's not worth updating it. DJI has a poor track record of QI with their updates. Very rushed.

I'm not sure if they have fixed this issue. I'm using an iPhone 5s and I'm experimenting some lags and lost s of radio signal. I have a Phantom 3 Standard, maybe it's an issue related to its firmware.

It's been some time and I haven't heard anything "official".

I noticed in forum that 3.8.1 was DJI was available powered up my IPad 2 Air and sure enough it had already installed the new version.  Hoping this has fixed the DISCONNECTED problem so fired it all up and it's jsut the same it does not work with 9.3.  Plug in my Samsung Galaxy S5 and S6 Edge + both work perfectly.  This is an Apple issue as far as I am concerned but I am really getting fed up not being able to us my iPad which I purchased solely for my Phantom 3 Pro and now because of this update it does not work.  

I do not want to go through the hassle of reseting my iPad which will mean I will have to reset everythng up and install it all again.  The phones are too small to use I really struggle to see the screen which is why I got the pad.

Surely there is an easier way of fixing this after all the update screwed it up.
