Hi All   I just purchased a mini 3 and need to get it up to about 12 metres inside a fuit coolstore to inspect some pipes and other parts of the building.

When i tried earlier today, it said the maximum altitude had been reached and it was only half way up to where i needed to get it.
I tried taking off from on top of a few of the bins to test and see if it could get a couple of metres higher but it was still limited to the same height.

Is there a way to set the maximum height for indoor use?
The walls are freeserpanel made of sheetmetal so no GPS or cellular coverage inside the building.

This is explained on P55 of the manual.

When there is no GNSS reception.
Height is restricted to 16 ft (5 m) when the GNSS signal is weak and Infrared Sensing System is operating.
Height is restricted to 98 ft (30 m) when the GNSS signal is weak and Infrared Sensing System is not operating.

Warning: height limit reached. Blinks red and green alternately

There will be no altitude limit if the GNSS signal becomes weak during flight as long as the GNSS signal was stronger than weak (white or yellow signal bars) when the aircraft was powered on.

The last sentence might be the solution you are looking for.
Try starting up outside where you can get full GPS reception and then flying into the building.
You will lose GPS in the building, but should avoid the height restriction.

Of course you'll need to be careful around obstacles and be gentle on the joysticks.

Hi,

"I tried taking off from on top of a few of the bins to test and see if it could get a couple of metres higher but it was still limited to the same height"

Interesting, height limitations are from the reference height set at take-off, so take from a higher point than ground floor ; drone should fly higher in your building.

cheers

Yeah - thats what google led me to believe.
Its a freezer so i wasnt able to sit there for a long time and research it but i was trying to look over a ledge on the far wall and just needed one more metre of height but i was stuck at the same height when the stacked bins got the takeoff point to be at least 1.5 metres higher than the floor.

Thanks that might be a workable solution. I'll give it a go next time I am in a warehouse and see what happens :-)

It might be interesting to check the VPS height in the .txt flight log for the flight from the bin top.

Hi,

If you like share both logs (start low and start top of bins),

Hi there, thank you for reaching out. Kindly take note that the height is restricted to 16 ft ( 5m) when the GNSS signal is weak and the Infrared Sensing System is operating. You may refer to the User manual  ( page 53 ) for more details regarding the flight limits, the errors and the aircraft status indicator.

Also, if the aircraft reaches an altitude limit, you can still control the aircraft but you cannot fly it any further. if the aircraft flies out of the max radius, it will automatically fly back within range when the GNSS signal is strong.

Kindly refer to the user manual using the link below for more information :
[https://dl.djicdn.com/downloads/ ... _Manual_V1.0_EN.pdf].

Thank you for your understanding.
