Dji Neo is much stronger than its size and weight suggest.
It very stably holds the Dji Action camera (56gr/2oz) as a payload.
The footage from the Action camera is significantly better.

I have an Action2, but would not want to try that with my Neo. Certainly not outdoors, anyway.

I suppose in still condition it might work, but with some wind, I can foresee a flyaway scenario.

I understand you, but I think differently.
If the recording is very important to me, I will use that combination.
Because the Action 2 is a better camera, and more importantly, it's waterproof.
If Neo falls into the water, the footage from Action 2 will survive regardless of Neo's fate ;-)

With an underwater housing, the weight would be too much.
But the Action 2's camera module is water and shock resistant enough to survive what the Neo couldn't.

It's a smart and good advice that all users should follow.
I am aware that the combination I have shown is risky and not for everyone.
However, I'm willing to take that risk if it gives me a shot that's worth it.
Considering the low price of the Neo and the robustness of the Action 2 module, even that risk, in my opinion, can be ignored in relation to the gain.
A professional videographer will rather choose this combination than put much more expensive drones like the Mavic Pro in a dangerous situation.

As shown, the experiment was successful.
Luck may be needed to implement that experiment in practice.
But more than luck, it takes rational thinking and careful planning.

Thats why Insta Go 1 , w and 3 is perfect. Go 1 is smallest from. Tomorrow will test go 2 i have

Of course it should lift the GO 3S no problem. I have even attached it to a 5€ drone (typical E88 Pro clone/rebranding) and zero issues, besides maybe 40-50 seconds less fly time.

I will make tomorrow. Just for testing i used elastoc rubber around Neo and camera was facing down. Nest time i try with tesa magnet tape or same rubber but with small metal around

Here are some photos. If you have some small metal sheet and strong tesa tape you can try. With rubber you need strong hold to body because in my option is shaking. So fasten belt ;)

Captain Drone puts the Insta360 GO 2 pretty much in everything and he just tapes it, lol.




In my uber cheap drones I just drilled the plastic and put a holder in different positions. But I think I wont do it with the poor Neo.

Well, the only suitable camera with decent quality is really the Insta360 GO 3/3S. Of course, a regular action camera wouldn't be a good idea. Neo is not a very stable drone and it is heavily affected by the wind. Even without any kind of payload, it throws red popups left and right when crosswind hits hard. So, yeah, there are not more options imo. Unless you wan't to go with those crappy Aliexpress microcameras, like Quelima's (you won't find a real one regardless).

If you have looked at this thread, especially my first post, I am surprised that you have come to such a conclusion.
1.
Dji Neo can stably maintain Dji Acition 2 which I showed in the first post.
2.
Although 21 gr. the lighter Insta360 GO 3/3S is a worse camera than Dji Action 2 in terms of construction and image quality, as shown by several parallel tests.
3.
Why would someone expose a lightweight Neo that has a payload to the wind?

Insta have better stabilisation iand weight so you can fly propably one minute longer. What is your flight with action 2? I will test my action today.

About the wind - maybe its better with camera load, heavier than light pure neo . What do you think

I was the first to do a test where the Neo carries an Action 2 camera as a payload.
See my first post on September 11th.
After that, videos appeared in which this experiment was successfully confirmed in practice.

I try but no succes with Action 2
after 10 - 20 second just landed when put on bottom

When i try on top its just 5 seconds and land Bottom position is better.

so propably i will stay with Insta go 2 ( 13 minutes flight )
