Hi all,

I've been creating 3D models of different sctructures, parcels of land etc with the M3E. I recently acquired a L2 sensor and started doing some mapping with it as well.

DJI suggests to use ortho vs oblique flight when using the L2 and I was wondering if you would be able to explain why they suggest so.

Also, I noticed that when I do oblique flights with the M3E the flight plan consist in only 2 flights in a crosshatch while when I use the L2 the number of passes for an area goes up to 5. Any chance you would be able to tell me that happens?

Thank you

"DJI suggests to use ortho vs oblique"
I don't understand what that means. DJI's recommendations for using their equipment are so so, you have to sort them out.

The choice of putting the sensor at NADIR or obliquely depends on the scene, its relief, its obstacles... If you ever see a guy who tells you to do one method rather than another in 100% of cases because it's better, move on. It's up to you to try it based on what you have. With LiDAR anyway there is no huge interest in putting it obliquely. Maybe to find points under structures, bridges, very dense canopy...

Yes indeed there are 5 paths, you don't have to do them all. You have to select the ones you want to execute. Once again, it's up to you to make your own experience. You will see that there are scenes that require more images than others to obtain an optimal photogrammetric reconstruction. In general where the texture is very homogeneous.
