New Neo user - what a tiny little (noisy!) thing!! Bought the bundle with the RC-N3 remote as my other drone is a Mini 3 Pro so the RC not compatible

Anyway.. some initial observations

1. Video quality without RC - agreed - way too sharp and noisy - no way to tone it down without RC connection - looks artificial
2. Video quality WITH RC - better - dialling down sharpness and NR a touch helps as does a tweak of white balance. Still, not a patch on video from my Mini 3 Pro which has far better contrast - Neo looks a little washed out - still.. useable
3. Autonomous flights - a breeze - no issues yet
4. RC flight - despite being virtually no wind today here, it's VERY skittish - flew to decent altitude - perhaps twice the house height and really started drifting around - worryingly so. Even when descending with the gimbal down you can see it moving around a lot coming back. Don't think I will be flying it quite so much with the RC!
5. VERY VERY slow to get satellites locked - several minutes. My Mini 3 Pro is super quick

Still - rather taken by it for what it is, and the non RC flights I can see being a lot of fun

For issue 4 did you remove the prop guards for that flight.

No - will that help? - I will stress though there was virtually no wind so not sure what was making it drift

prop guards will make any drone drift,  the lighter the drone the easier it is.       As for no wind,   thats very hard to tell.     You may have been sheltered by the other houses and the drone when above the houses picked up some wind.

Wind is definitely gonna pick up above houses, yes. Neo only having a single axis-gimbal, you will see the aircraft being rocked around by wind unlike on your Mini (which still gets affected by wind, just less as it's heavier and has open props).

Re GPS, apparently totally different chipset and antenna arrangement to something like the mini's, don't believe as good - it is dirst cheap after all!

I'd say it's no competitor for either if, in the first example your focus is on good video and photography, or in the latter on FPV

However... I don't think this is a fair comparison. The neo is a very cheap, throw in your pocket drone designed primarily for taking quick shots without an RC. For that it's brilliant in my view (with some flaws, but it's cheap!)

It's not a replacement to either of what you mention

no im not looking to replace it, i was just thinking to have a small cinewhoop to fly it around and not fear crashing since i dont want to crash my avata 2 and currently i fly like a little girl.
