Hi all,

I am about to acquire a phantom vision plus and I dont know if it should be the v3.
I have not been able able to find any tests on battery life of v3 vs v2, with the extra power v3´s battery life should be shorter but maybe more efficient motors make up for the difference.
Also, there are some posts in the forum complaining about v3 showing burnout problems at their ESC speed controller, how common are these?

Thanks a lot for the help

My advice would be buy the V3 it has loads of upgrades over the v2.
Also buy it local if possible just in case you get any issues.

Buy the latest version! The improvements are worth the increased price!

I have 2 Phantom 2's.  I bought my first one in April and the second one in June.  I upgraded the first one last month when the parts were showing up on the shelves with new motors and ESC's, new props, new compass and new TX with the tilt wheel for the camera.  The battery usage I have found is less than a minute on the new upgrade.  But I fly conservatively, not more than 14 to 15 minutes at the max. The only repairs I have made to that one is replacing the battery plug inside.  One of the push connectors came apart.  I've also done the mod of a copper shield for the GPS on both birds.
As far as the ESC's burning or failing, the jury isn't back on that.  Man makes the parts, and they are not perfect.  Some of everything will fail.  Only failures are heard about here.  Of all the new V-3's and upgrades for the V-2's that have been sold, only a few failures have happened.

Gerry1124, does the new compass need the copper shield? If yes how did you do it?

It should have been for the GPS not compass.  My thoughts go faster than my fingers typing this.  Thanks for pointing that out.

Many thanks. Then I will go for the v3.
Local dealer offering it with 3 batteries in total (2 extra for free) so quite a good deal.

Any other equipment you think I should buy? (I was thinking of a carrying case)

Thanks

The GPS reception seems to be solved on the v3.
I have 6-8 satellites minimum after a short time period, clear sky provided.

Paras, if local dealer is selling the unit with 2 extra batts for free, and charges you over 1400 USD, the batts are not free!  Get yourself a nice carry case.  I got a backpack style one on Amazon, very nice.

Paras, you are not getting the 3rd battery free at that price.  I just got my order from DJI for 1042 Euro, which included a spare battery (2 batteries total).  So your dealer is charging you 108 euro extra for that 3rd battery.

Ahhh.  Chinese are gouging the Spaniards!  Delivery in US was only 1042 Euro (2 batteries). Maybe because they don't have a DJI store in Spain yet.
