Mini 3 pro gimbal tilts on altitude change

Hi all,

I've been having a little problem since the last firmware update with my mini 3 pro gimbal.  When I increase altitude the gimbal  automatically tilts down, the higher I go the more it tilts until it's pointing stiaght down. Then as I decrease the altitude the gimbal will tilt up until it's at its max up angle. I have tried changing it from follow me mode to fvp mode buts it does the same thing.  In either mode I can adjust the gimbal with the wheel, but have to do this constantly which I never had to do before. All my firmware is up to date as of today according to the RC:  App = 1.13.10, Aircraft = 01.00.0900, RC = 01.03.1700.  I have calabrated everthing (gimbal, RC, imu, and compass)

To be clear when I am at a static altitude the gimbal operates fine, I can move to my hearts content in cine, normal or sport as long as I don't change altitude.  The gimbal adjusts to drone yaw and pitch to keep the image level, the problem is only when I change altitude.  So if i am flying up to a cliff or wall and increase the altitude to do a fly over the gimbal will drop, totally blowing the shot.  It's not even like it is trying to maintain POI because the gimbal will just keep dropping until it's at max down. So when I take off the gimbal is centred, by the time I'm around 20m it's at full down, if I reset the gimbal it will be at full down again by 40m.  If I then go down to around 10m the gimbal will  be at full up (my altitudes are guesses because i don't generally monitor this).

I've being looking around and found a few almost similar problems but they seem to be more random, where this is like it's programmed to do it.  Has anyone had this and if so were you able to fix it?

Thanks

I was starting to think I was the only one experiencing this problem, but the problem I am experiencing is that when it lands in rocket mode, when it reaches an altitude of about 10 meters, the gimbal automatically points straight up. I have added all the videos and recordings, but I have not received any results for 2 months. I will follow this issue, maybe a result can be obtained from here. I also noticed another problem after the last update and I am following it, it suddenly slides to the right or left during landing even though there is no obstacle under it. I hope our problems are solved as soon as possible.

Hi DJI Stephen,

Here is a video:
DJI Mini 3 Pro Gimbal Issue : https://youtu.be/27RgyqzB-eA

As you can see, the gimbal drops as the altitude increases and raises as the altitude decreases.  All other operations seem fine, and the gimbal maintains a steady & level picture in flat flight (catering for pitch and yaw well).  The gimbal wheel works as expected and gives full gimbal articulation.

Hi NaT Travel, sorry for the late response. After checking with our engineering team, for your situation, you could try to re-calibrate the remote control stick again and see if it could work. Please test and keep us update. Thanks.

Hi all,

I've got the same problem (video looks the same as the one from NaT Travel). It's interesting that for 10m of descending it tilts less than for 10m of ascending, so if you start at 20m, go up to 40m it's maybe tilted 34° down, if you go back to 20m it's maybe 20° tilted down, not levelled.

Calibrating the remote sometimes helps. But the problem keeps coming back. So I calibrate => no effect, I calibrate again => no tilting during flying, I put the drone away and use it some days later => Tilting again.

Calibrating the remote successfully doesn't always mean that the gimbal is not tilting afterwards. I've attached some pictures, it seems like it's difficult to turn the left wheel all the way to the right without extra force.

Hi there
We apologize for the inconvenience that you are encountering.
Please confirm if you use the follow mode while flying, make sure turn off this mode.
Also, have you ever try to control the joystick while the drone rising up?
Could you please take a video for the whole operating process and send it to us? We will check it out for you.
Thanks for your understanding and support.

Hi DJI Thor,

I re calibrated the RC and found that every time I pressed up or down on the left control stuck the gimbal wheel indicator was also moving left or right. So I persisted with the calibration until i could go up and down on the left control stick without the gimbal moving. Then I finished the rest of the calibration.  I was able to go back in to RC calibration and the settings held (ie I could move the left control stick without the gimbal wheel indicator moving).  BUT, then I restarted the RC and went back to RC calibration and the problem came back (when I moved the left control stuck up or down the gimbal wheel indicator would move left or right).  After a few minutes I trying different combinations of controls I got it back to working properly (flicking the stick or gimbal wheel)  But every time I turn off the RC the calibration needs to be redone.

Thanks

And yes, while the left control stick is up and I use the gimbal wheel I can control the gimbal.  I have attached a video in my earlier post.

Here is a video of the RC Calibration:

Thanks Tony,

Sorry about the account confusion, multiple devices with multiple accounts for different reasons…

A couple of quick things:  1) the URL you linked gives a 404 error, and 2) I navigated to the complex world of DJI support and could use some advice on what service option to choose.  I have a care plan and believe I qualify for the Care Express, or is this a Maintenance Service or a Request Repair Service Online??
I'll make that 3 things... what am I getting repaired? The drone and/or the RC?

Thanks

Hi there. Sorry for the misunderstanding. This is the correct link: https://repair.dji.com/repair/index
DJI Care Express service is a channel for customers to get a faster replacement for a fee. According to your situation, we recommend that you submit a repair application instead of using Care replacement.
