I made a post recently and was surprised by the loyalty of DJI fans. The Neo had all the potential to be a fun and safe drone, but it came with so many restrictions that limit its use. Many defenders say: 'Read the manual,' or that the drone is 'cheap.' But the issue isn't the price, it's the excessive limitations. You can’t fly it at night, over water (even though DJI shows it in official videos), in closed environments, or on smooth surfaces. The number of restrictions is so high that it outweighs the benefits.

In my night video, several people commented that the problem was because I was flying at night. But even during the day, the same issues occurred. I wonder: what will be the next excuse from DJI defenders?

When the red 'Fly with caution' message appears, the drone loses control shortly after.

So far i have had no extreme issue like yours, even inside without GPS.
The main issue i had is drifting by night time, but its quite easy to keep manual control, and sudden change of position while in follow mode.
I would say its even feeling better with the last update.

Very pleasant drone for that price.

Again, you're flying over a reflective surface which DJI explicitly tells you not to do. Visual positioning sensors get confused and crash. Operator error.
I do agree in general its vision positioning is really week and has surprised me by failing in some environments I would not consider too dark, but again, the manual does tell you to set your expectations low, and it *is* a cheap drone. You can always fly it in manual mode in these environments. Or try to cover bottom sensors and fly in atti mode from the start.

Is there a way to disable these counterproductive protections?

This is my first time using DJI Fly

Thank you for sharing your resolution. This sure will help other users whose having the same issue. Yes, While in N mode (Normal Mode) and S mode (Sports Mode), DJI Neo supports downward vision perception; while in M mode (Manual Mode), DJI Neo does not supports the perception feature. Have a safe flight always!

It would be ideal to be able to access the M manual mode, including with the RC-N3, not just the FPV.
In autonomous mode (palm) it is understandable, but why have it locked with one RC and not the other?

Because on the N3 RC it is written C-N-S instead of C-M-S?

You look at the first post of this thread, the video speaks for itself. I don't have such an extreme runaway phenomenon, but it's true that the downward sensor is sensitive and inaccurate. The drone moves by itself.

I completely understand the limitations of the sensor, moreover it works very well within the limits of what is defined in the manual.

All I ask would be to be able to simply deactivate it. with any RC, RC FPV, RCN3...

I come from the Enterprise range world, where everything can be deactivated via pilot 2. No matter what mode is selected. I'm sure it's possible to implement this with DJI Fly for the Consumer series as well.

Please, care to elaborate further?

I can only fly over water in manual mode with radio controller, and not with quick shots or wi-fi over a phone?

You can fly over water with quickshots, but the drone might fly out of control

Hi Julian,

Manual Mode is Classic FPV aircraft control mode with the highest maneuverability. In Manual mode, all flight assistance functions including precise hovering and auto-brake are disabled and proficient control skills are required. DJI Neo is light and compact we still do not recommend to fly over water as drifting may occur.

I hope this information has helped to clarify your inquiries. If you have any other questions, kindly let us know. Thank You!

Jeferson, did you sent the drone for repair as DJI support has suggested?
Maybe there is really something wrong with our drones, so I would be interested if DJI was able to fix yours.

I have the same problem as what's in your video and I've noticed I can fly it in a hallway and certain rooms in my house all day long and it doesn't do that, but in certain areas in some rooms it just takes off forward out of control with that warning message. I'm using the Goggles 3 and the RC MC 3 and everything is on the latest firmware. I believe the places where it goes crazy have high wifi interference. Granted I'm not flying with my phone using wifi but I believe wifi interference could be the issue.
