Hi there,

I really enjoy the Neo flying. I use it a lot to do some quick nice shots. I also use my phone sometimes to do a quick fly over.
The phone connects with WiFi to the drone. When I fly in manual, what will happen if the phone loses connection with the drone or you fly out of reach from the WiFi?
Will it return to where it started, will it hover or maybe just land immidiate?
I do not think it can rely on GPS when connected to your phone.

Hi there,
thank you for reaching out.

When DJI Neo is controlled by the DJI Fly app on the smartphone, FailSafe RTH is not available.

Due to the limited interference resistance and transmission distance of Wi-Fi communication, we also recommend flying within visual line of sight, and avoiding using it in environments such as water surface where it is not suitable for flying DJI Neo.

If disconnection occurs, move closer to DJI Neo actively, or use a DJI RC-N3 which has been linked to your DJI Neo to take over the control. Those operations will allow you to reconnect to DJI Neo and control it returning to home.

I hope this helps. Feel free to contact us should you have any other questions. Thank you.

Thanks! As long as it stops and hover it's okay. When the battery drains it will autoland ;)

Hi there,
thank you for reaching out.

For Auto Landing, in some situations, DJI Neo will land automatically with the landing protection function supported.

Should you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to us. Thank you.

So this is interesting. I too use the mobile app for those times I just want to send the drone up 50 feet and straight back down. What if loses connection? Will it simply come straight back down? I really wish it had a "scout mode" that allowed you to send it up 200 feet ... spin around ... and come straight back down. I'm scared of losing my drone.

I've tested, It won't try to land without being close to ground. It tries a little and then runs out of battery and falls.
If your 50m up you better hope you can stand under it.

If we had an RC controller we wouldn't be using the mobile controls......
