DJI, Any chance for a camera for the Inspire1 that has zoom capability?  I found another UAS manufacturer that has one.  http://aeryon.com/aeryon-hdzoom30  If nothing coming, I have 3 inspire1s and 2 S1000s for sale.  I love DJI but, as a commercial user, the lack of communication is frustrating.

well whos to say if anyone NEEDS such a tool, but i sure would love to know the price just for giggles.  Anyone have a clue?
EDIT:  did some googling and near as i can tell this thing cost around $120,000 in 2012, lol! cray-zay!  Wont be getting one of these anytime soon.  They dont really have specs listed on their website, id love to know what kind of battery they are using to get 50 minutes of flight time when the inspire seems pretty close to the same size and weight and only get 14 min or so.

Guys, I know this is all wishful thinking, but I wouldn't hold your breath. Two totally different market segmets. DJI is primary selling to amateur and professional cinematographers while Aeryon is selling to governments and not for movie making purposes. DJI really has no need to add a zoom function to their birds especially the Inspire. DJI is all about the stability of their images, and it would be very difficult to maintain that stability with zoom. Don't need stability for what Aeryon is offering and that is covert operations amongst other things. If you need to zoom in on something with your Inspire do it in post or just fly a little closer to the subject.

I apologize but that drone is not worth $100,000. Fact is the inspire 1 is not bad, not bad at all. And add a zoom camera to it and longer flight time and you got a #1 hit with me and others.

Regardless, the aeryon camera is significantly better quality than the inspire.  Heck, my cell phone even takes better quality stills than the inspire. The current inspire camera is nothing to brag about quality wise, it shouldn't be a challenging feat to add zoom to the inspire camera, cell phone cameras have had zoom capability for many years.

It doesn't have to be crystal clear able to read a license plate from half a mile away, any half decent zoom current cell phone cameras are capable of would be a nice improvement as current inspire camera view makes objects closer than they appear which can be dangerous if you're trying to get close enough to something to see detail.

Personally I don't give a hoot about 4k yet, got nothing to watch it on anyway. I'm more interested in taking high quality stills and I'd rather the inspire had the 16megapixel camera with 4k video and zoom capabilities my galaxy note 4 has instead of the crappy 12megapixel one it currently has.

The inspire is a modular design, there's no reason they couldn't offer multiple different camera options to suit everyone needs or god forbid a decently priced one that's capable of 4k and 18-25 megapixel stills with zoom.

Going to meet with the manufacturer next week.  This UAS is certainly what we need.  You can read a 3/4" serial number from 100' away.  We are getting into commercial inspections and need the stand-off capability.  UAS uses a tablet to operate.  Has a 6km capability (reduced to 1km due to US and Can regulations). Tablet, UAS, 2 Batteries, software and case.  ~$85k.
