Had the NEO just a few days, purchased specifically for tracking me on my mountain bike. Three times now, when following me, it has flown off to the right until it hits something.

Third time, I had trouble finding it - it was in thick foliage. Totally unacceptable and risky behaviour. Drone has been returned for a refund.

All flights were in bright sunshine, and I thought the quality of the footage was entirely acceptable. The tracking was good too, apart from the flyaways. Sadly, I dare not keep it, and the return window was running out.

I am aware of that. I was moving at less than 10mph to keep myself in  visual range. The drone just darted off to the right into the trees.  There is no apparent  reason for this unpredictable behaviour. I do not trust this drone.

TBH I bought the drone for filming me on a MTB. Hardware is impressive, software is still work in progress. I bought the Dji trusting that they will improve the software, firmware and features at least for a year until the v2 comes out.I want more options for circle, more control over camera, overall improvements on direction tracking etc.  Sooo patience?

I have a tracking issue with my neo too, at first I tried the drone tracking me through hamsterley forest on my bike and understandably it lost track of me with the rise and fall of the ground of when they're were trees so I took it to keilder, i rode a trail with no trees and kept my speed quite low yet it still kept losing track of me which meant i had to walk back up the trail until the drone decided it could see me again which didn't always happen until very close, it doesn't always detect I'm holding out my hand for it to land either. Could it be an issue where it doesnt always detect a drop in altitude down a hill side trail? i would attach a video from my neo but only still images seen to be supported

Yeh it's nothing to do with obstacles. On follow mode the drone just stops following you and starts drifting in random directions instead of standing still.

That's interesting. Thinking back, the drone twice veered off to the right into the trees when I was going down a steep trail. You may have nailed one of the issues.
