"the gimbal itself moves in a straight line"

You would have the first 2-axis Neo if it were otherwise xD

Calm down, it was a joke. Since there's no way that the gimbal would move in any other direction than a straight line. There's no way that it could do, mechanical wise, that move.

Your drone is not hovering straight because of the wind, so yeah RockSteady is doing this. You can turn it off by switching aspect ratio to 4:3 and then use Gyroflow to stabilize in post and lock horizon if you want.

Hi there,

Thank You for reaching out. We are truly sorry for the inconvenience you are experiencing. If you want to turn off the EIS mode you can try the steps below;

When using DJI Neo with DJI Goggles 3, EIS is supported, including RockSteady and HorizonBalancing. EIS can be turned off.
When the aspect ratio is set to 16:9, it is able to enable RockSteady or HorizonBalancing.
When the aspect ratio is set to 4:3, EIS is not available.
When EIS is off, the recorded videos can be processed for offline stabilization in Gyroflow.
When DJI Neo is in Palm Control, Mobile App Control or RC Control, HorizonBalancing is enabled by default, and cannot be turned off.
In Palm Control or Mobile App Control, the horizon correction angle is ±30°; while if DJI Neo is controlled by a remote controller or a motion controller, the angle is ±45°.

I hope this information has helped to clarify your inquiries. If you have any other questions, kindly let us know. Thank You!

Thx DJI Gamora for that useful information.

However, I dont want to turn off EIS - that issue happens for a lot of customers (I also read about it in a german forum) and my hope is, that DJI can investigate that and fix this EIS behaviour.

My guess is your Neo got knocked into higher than 30 degree roll by the wind during camera tilt and that is what you're seeing here. Trees are not a good way to measure the wind since you're flying above them where there is nothing to break that wind and your Neo is most definitely experiencing more of it than you think and it being much lighter and less powerful than Avata, it's not exactly comparable.

Try the same thing below tree line and see if the issue persists.

I dont think it was 30° roll... next there is big open space and there was no wind also. Check at 0:13, the horizon is almost straight.
But I will try it again - actually, there is wind outside so no good way to test it.

Yeah, I think horizon being *almost* straight is the problem, since HorizonBalancing will correct up to 30 degrees, anything above that is what you will see, so if you see like a 2 degree tilt, that's actually 32.
