I'm working on a small project that includes about 15 sites, where I need a perfect rotation.  I don't want to circle something like POI.  I need the camera to stay in the same spot and just do a rotation.    I'm using crusie control now and I need about 2:15-2:30 minute rotation.  So, I set my cruise and I am getting pretty good.  But I keep thinking it would be nice to hit a feature (like POI) that says 'rotate', set the time required and hit "go'.  I would have a perfect rotation every time, excactly the same.   You could still fly up/down/back/forward while it is rotating, like POI.

Just a thought.

Nice idea, I already have some scenes in mind where I could make use of this feature as well. Second that!

Can't you reduce the maximum yaw rate to very low values and then just apply full rudder or create you own joystick movement stop for yaw.

Do you use cruise control?  If not try it.  I Use it lots, it works for rotate, but I usually have to try a couple times to get my speed where I want it.

I reduced it a low as possible, still way too fast.  Cruise control is the best way but it takes a couple tries to get the speed right where you want it.  I'm just dreaming/thinking out loud, about a 'rotate' function.  You never know, maybe they might add it cause of me.  I'll be famous. lol

I'd like it if you could push a button that made the drone carry on in the current direction, but allowed rotation.

I have difficulty spinning the drone to the side and carrying on the current vector, since the drone often brakes.

My Phantom 2 had 'course lock' that did just that.  I miss that feature.

A lot has been lost as DJI have 'improved' their apps.

Ok so the minimum yaw rate is still too fast and that's a pity but it is my recollection that I have been able get very slow 'rates' with very careful movements of the relevant joysticks. If you create your own joystick travel-limiter you should be able to get a constant yaw rate.

I would suggest that the best control will be achieved by setting the EXP value to 0.5 which give a straight line graph and predictability of joystick-movement vs changes-in-the-drone's-response.

BTW way I am not trying to talk you out of your idea, it seems well liked, I am just being realistic about the likelyhood of DJI introducing the feature.

I just use cruise control, it works the best.  I use Cine mode to get a nice rotation.  Get a nice rotation going and lock it.

Ahh, so are you saying that cruise control can give a fixed yaw rate ?
I don't have an applicable drone with which to experiment.

Sean, CC is GREAT!! Not only speed, but direction as well. I have set it to curve, climb and diagonal. At different times, of course. You can also change direction while maintaining steady speed.

Yes, it locks any stick input, plus you can "stack them', for lack of a better term.  Move forward at 3/ms and lock it, add in a rotation without touching the forward stick , it holds the forward and adds the rotation, add in a rise and it holds all 3...or more.  Plus, you can lock a movement and fly freely while that stick movemnt is locked.

Yeah, it's a great feature.  I don't always remember to use it for stuff.  I just remembered I could do the rotation and lock it.

This function is available in the GO 4 app and all drones with this app can fly like this. Very convenient, it's a pity that it's not available in Fly

Cruise control is a favorite feature for me.  Very useful for "longer" runs where you want constant speed. . . .or simply don't want your fingers to get tired from steady pressure.

Note that I can cruise control a straight line; and "input" a up/down left/right course correction without affecting the "go forward" cruise control

Or start with "go forward", then add "turn" and then add "go up" to cruise control...
