Hello everyone, does anyone know how well the Neo tracks you? Like, is it only able to track on areas without any obstacles on either sides, or can it track in dense forest?
It has 'path tracking', so it follows exactly your route. It usually avoid trees no problem, but if there's a branch in the same altitude of the drone, low-medium-high, well obviously it wont avoid that, since there's no obstacle avoidance whatsoever. You still can manually assist the drone, even while it is following you, but of course it kinda defeats the purpose of the tracking.
As long as there are no branches in the way of the Neo, it should be fine. And Neo is basically unbreakable at tracking pace, so there's little risk using it for such task.
In close follow mode it will track your path faithfully, and is capable of brushing aside long grasses and small twigs and leaves, as I have discovered.
Hi there, thank you for reaching out . We recommend you to refer the user manual ( page 39 ) to get more information regarding FocusTrack feature. I've also shared the link below for reference:

I'll one more info, as I observed to avoid obstacles you can get neo lower in tracking just by lowering your head/ getting your body lower on legs etc.

That's the first thing I tried in that video, and it doesn't seem to take that into account, it always flies at the same altitude level, depending on the DJI Fly settings. At least on the .0100 firmware.
It would be nice to have head/shoulders tracking, but I don't think that's a thing whatsoever.

I tested this few times on .0200 and it was working fine in follow and direction track, but in spotlight it stays at same altitude.

Ok, so it can just lower when you lower your body as well?
Yes, just tested it on .0300 firmware, and it follows height of your head (probably head).
So if you'll node your head to front, or bend your whole body, it will get as low as your head, same if you will sit on the ground (but in this case it won't get lower as "minimum altitude" ~50cm from ground I think)
