Unfortunately the Neo lost satellites during flight again and starts drifting, see screenshot. My Air 2S had on same position at same time 25-30 satelites stable. DJI please fix this very critical bug, I'am not allone and this bug doesn't create trust.
Few seconds later, the satellite connection was stable again.
This behaviour can be observed on almost every flight.
Yes, last firmware on RC-2 and Neo are installed.

I’m wondering if using quickshots with no app or controller, could NEO lose control of itself like this?

Happened to me twice when using quickshot with no controller. I had to run after it and grab it out of the air before it drifted over a stream. Lost a lot of confidence. I hope it's fixed with an update soon!?

If not, kindly update the firmware to the latest firmware version. Also, kindly try test flight in open environment with no obstructions and see if the issue still persists.

I have the same issue with my new neo and the rc2 controller in new england usa.  I have the latest software updates.  The controller says no satellite  connection ends up flying all over the place , very embarrassing .   

When I looked at my recording I found that I had 26 satellites. However, neo lost connection for about a second to all of them then started going crazy. This needs an emergency fix!

Flying the Avata2 and Neo in the same location with the same hardware(Goggles3, FPV RC3).  Compared to the Avata2, the Neo is slow to initiate satellite capture.  Less number captured (19 or less vs. Avata2's +20). Unsteady number v. the Avata2 minimal fluctuations. Neo bounces around from single digits to usually mid teens.  So far, enough satellites even during the drops to maintain control.  Assuming you need at least 6 satellites for a location fix?

I agree, it takes a long time  (2 to 3 mins) for the Neo to lock in on satellites. and this is outside wide open field. never lost complete control, but I have noticed the satellite count is going into the yellow when i'm flying. I am flying with a goggles three and the MC three all equipment is up-to-date. Don't have this problem with my Avata 2.

I had this earlier today...

I was just walking along a road, just behind the drone, controlling it with an RC-N3  and it just flew off into the trees. Reviewed the flight and at the time it flew off, it had just dropped GPS positioning. It's very concerning.

My goal is to fly outside in the evening with plenty of light and shadows on one side of the houses. Any suggestions?

Satellite drop or did you fly into a lower lighted area or both?


If I acquire any satellites in the house it is at the most 3. Usually zero.  No issues with control using either the MC3 or FPV RC3 in N or S modes.  Until I fly into a too dark area. No control inputs accepted. Neo accelerates into the closest obstacle and crashes.  But I have not yet downloaded the latest firmware which some have noted fixed the problem.

Watched a Ytube "unboxing" video of the new Neo and N3 combo kit.  Presenter went through the complete process of activating, firmware updating, and linking.  Flew his Neo into the darker areas of his recording studio.  It went a bit out of control, but accepted some of his controller inputs preventing a crash.  If that is the "fix".  Still not acceptable for indoors flying.  I ordered a replacement for my now lost non-DJI indoors flier.  Only 7-8 minutes flight times.  But it only crashes due to operator v. hardware/software glitch.

I am afraid that NEO is unfortunately far from a credible drone. It is very unstable, has
problems with GPS and especially with downward vision system and infrared sensors, thus its inability to fly
over water or in low light. As time goes by and more consumers purchase the drone, these problems become more
apparent, and every day youtube videos describing/complaining about the NEO, are multiplying together with
sale listings of used NEOs.
I believe that  DJI has to act promptly otherwise NEO will follow the fate/fame of the Spark.
Fortunately there is a very simple and of very low cost solution which I believe could solve the aforementioned problems and restore the credibility of the product. I would be happy to disclose it to DJI if asked.

Even after the LATEST (.0400) firmware update, my Neo never finds more than 10 to 13 satellites and is constantly going into the yellow and periodically the red and hardly ever stays in the white. And it doesn't matter Where or When I'm flying on a beautiful sunny day, DJI NEEDS TO FIX THIS. I have both the Avata 1 and 2 and my M4P with me and there is absolutely no problem for them to connect to satellites. At first, I thought it might be just my Neo, so I picked up another one at Best Buy and thought I would give it a try and if it worked, I'd take my old one back. I'm here to tell you the second one also had the same problem so I just returned it.

Same problem here with the GPS. See picture on GPS data. From established green it went orange and then went back to green.

With the following dirt-cheap modification the NEO seems to be able to flight at night even in high altitude and very close to the surface of the water (always with a controller). You may purchase a "beanie hat with LED lights"  detach the rechargeable 4 LED unit and with a double side adhesive tape, attach it underneath the drone battery. The weight of it is 20 grams and with trimming and removing the plug cap, can be reduced to lower than 15 grams. The results seem to be spectacular. (To see the mod in action search YT for a channel named "Drone strike" - not related to any way with me.

NEO behaves the same, it doesn't matter if he is indoors or outdoors. At one point he thinks he sees an obstacle and flies away.

Happened to mine again today. Have only had it 3 weeks and will be returning it to the store before the return period closes. Was a super-fun 3 weeks but don't know if I'll get another one. Too unpredictable

Unfortunate issue for many Neo users. Guessing more than just a software update to fix.

Quality of GPS chip?  Avata2 based on the Mad'sTech breakdown video has the GPS chip located right under the removable top plate.   Maybe the Neo's is squeezed next to a transmitting/receiving board or antenna that might interfere with it.  The Avata2 seems to have incorporated lots of "tape" to isolate components.  Maybe at the Neo's price point DJI needed to cut corners in build design.

An option for some is just to fly in manual mode if you have the FPV RC3.  No stabilization.  Have flown without any fly away incidents down into the very low (Red) number of satellites locked.  Obviously not an option for those who primarily purchased the Neo as a autonomous drone.   Bit of blemish on DJI's rep if they cannot resolve the issue or unwilling to admit it is not something that can be fixed.

Similar experience. Latest firmware on the Neo and the RC3. Long time to get satellites to connect. Then they drop randomly.

If there's any wind, forget it, the drone just veers away with no satellites. This happened 3 times today, twice with sketchy recoveries. bright sunny sky, drone was 80+ feet up and there was no reason to lose a satellite at all.  Almost went into high trees or over a pond. But I stayed in it and flew the drone to safety.

This may not be something a firmware update can fix? If it is, please push one out quickly.

Luckily, I negotiated the return of the Neo. I'm tired of waiting for DJI to react. And using this drone is dangerous.

Flop, depending on your expectations and needs.

$199 drone with 04 video system is IMHO, a good value.  Will be interesting to see what the standalone 04 system cost.  Last look the 03 was retailing for $179.

Not into the "selfie", autonomous modes.  Purchased for immersive manual mode FPV.  Robust and relatively inexpensive for a digital video quad.  Less tears when I crash and trash it.  For my needs a great quad. Understand that the Neo is a "flop" for others.  Something that happens if you are an early adopter with  expectations not met.

Initially the Neo was a replacement for an indoors FPV quad, but the low light limitations flying in N or S mode with either the MC3 or FPV RC3 is limiting sessions to outdoors only.   Just something to accept. It seems like DJI cannot fix this issue. You can fly with zero satellites without issue in Manual mode(no stabilization active).

Same here. At first I thought the problem was low light, but then the problem appeared with good lighting, I lost control and It fall, I was very scared.
