I got the idea from some other members here...

Itis pretty simple... You may or you may not be aware that DJI has made a bit of a mess regarding offering the SDK for their drones... Some have it available, some other do not, it was promised for other, then they changed their mind...Then they told us that it was going to be available only for the commercial drones, then they changed their mind and said it was going to be available again for some of the smaller recreation drones as well...

As you can see, it is a mess and to be honest, I'm not even sure of where we stand on this matter at the moment... Irrelevant anyway...


So just for a bit of fun, I would like to see, who would be interested to put their name down for a Mavic 4 Pro (or any new "Non Enterprise" drones) if it did came with support for the SDK...

Lots of people don't use, knows, or need a drone that is supported by SDK, and that's fine... But for the few (or perhaps many) that understand the advantages of having SDK available in their drone,lets put our name down and see how it goes...

Please note, especially for the few members here that don't get out to fly often but are more interested in creating noise on this forum, it is just for fun!!! I really don't care what DJI do think about the release of SDK as I no longer have trust on their words... This is just for us, the consumer, to see if there is still interest in having more freedom of software...

Given the history of newly released models I do not understand why people want TO PAY TO BE beta testers. Let the youtubers do that, that's their business so problems are a business expense even for those youtubers who use their own money to buy the drone.
To my mind it makes sense to let them discover early problems and then test the solutionsor attempted solutions provided by DJI

I really have no opinion either way, other than I won't be buying a mavic 4 full stop. The main one being I am perfectly happy with my Mavic 2 pro and ZOOM  and have no desire to replace them.
In relation to specifically the SDK, my main understand is that an available SDK leads to the use of the likes of Litchi being possible.
I most certainly I see some advantages in Litchi over the FLY app but for my use they are not essential, so, in truth. the vast majority of flights are flown using the DJI app, be that Go, Go4 or fly.

I posted here because I can not understand peoples' desire to rush out and buy a drone that has not really been publicly tested.

I will for sure buy the Mavic 4 Pro whether it has the SKD or not; would prefer it but not a showstopper.  I will *not* buy it on day 1 but maybe closer to a year since release.

True, DJI made their statement after the Mini 3 Pro was released.

That's why the Mini 4 Pro and Mavic 3 consumer versions don't have SDK.
And also why Mavic 4 won't have SDK.
Simple as that.

But if we can go back on topic, would your answer be yes or no?

Unless there is an important technological leap in the Mavic 4, I would not buy the drone even if it had an SDK... Mavic 3 in my opinion reached a very important level compared to its previous drones, DJI realized this and decided not only not to release the SDK but also separate the consumer portfolio from the enterprise one. A very absurd move knowing that the Mavic 3 Enterprise and Consumer series share the same platform and the Mavic Enterprise does not even come with RTK GPS from factory (only the firmware varies)

The Mavic 4 I bet will have such tight changes compared to the Mavic 3 that the latter will end up overshadowing it until at least they launch the Mavic 5.

I tend to agree with that sentiment @Labroides.  I do not realistically expect DJI to reverse course based upon the forum alone.  I will be sitting out any drones that do not have a SDK.  Somewhere there is hopefully a bright young sales analyst who will ask the right questions about how to sell more, and maybe we will see some change.

Why are you posting this here?  This thread is for people that wishes to have SDK available for their drone.. I really don't know what use can I possibly have of knowing how you go about your drone shopping technique..

I would prefer to know how many people are still interested in getting SDK with the new drones, regardless of what others may think...

We would all be crazy if we did... We are well aware by now that DJI doesn't really care..

And why would they? There is no incentive whatsoever from the consumers, and there is no real competition...

But it would be nice to know how many people around here and new user would like to have it as an option...
