Just got my DJI Neo.

  
  

I thought I could fly this with no controller for simple camera shots but the drone says I have to connect with the DJI Fly app to activate the drone. ( first surprise )

  
  

I have a Samsung Z fold 3 phone. Downloaded the DJI Fly app, and the phone connects to the drone, but the DJI app does not recognize the connection. It gives me instructions that do not make any sense. It say to go to profile and change settings in the DJI Fly app but when I go to profile the settings it says to change are not listed.

Where does it tell you to go into profile? There's 3 tabs when you connect to Neo with DJI Fly - Album, Control, Settings. It's those settings you need, not the ones in DJI Fly profile screen.
If your phone is connected to the Neo's wifi, but DJI Fly isn't opening those 3 tabs automatically, do you have a big blue "Go Fly" button in lower right, or does nothing change? Have you given all the requred permissions to the app?

Well I uninstalled the DJI Fly app and re-installed it and I seem to be connecting to it now... thank you anyway..... back to learning
Updating firmware now
( the only drone I have ever had is a Tello, this will be interesting )

you just explained something I missed though... thanks

Ran into the issue again, but found out why. You cannot connect to the Neo if anything is plugged into the C port, I cannot connect to it while it is charging.
