Dear Community,
I wanted to fly my Neo with remote control RC-N3 today. All Neo batteries charged to 100% and RC-N3 was around 70%.
But unfortunately my Android phone (Pixel 8 Pro) was around 20% only and just started extrem energy saving mode.
However I thought it would be charged by the RC-N3 controller. But after connecting I noticed it's not charging. And instead, the RC-N3 was charged by my phone !! Android 14 offers settings to switch USB connection and to choose if connected device should be charged or not... But it was not possible to change any USB settings for the RC-N3 controller.
I expected same behavior like my old Mavic 2 Zoom, the controller charged the phone and I remember a lot of discussions in the web how to avoid this.
The behavior with RC-N3 is different now and I'm thinking about if it is the best solution?
I guess, modern smartphones have around 5000 mAh, and the RC-N3 has around 2650 mAh. So it makes sense that the phone charges the controller... But for me it was the decision to stop my flight today and drive home...next time I will take care to have charged my phone...
What do you think about and what is your experience?

I'm not totally sure, but I think the issue might be a security thing on the phone's end - that it's not possible to charge your phone from a connection and also use it as a connected peripheral. The reason being that there would be a risk of bad guys making a "charger" that takes control of your phone. I might be completely making this up though.

Hi there,
thank you for reaching out.

To confirm, by default, it doesn't charge Android mobile devices. (Some specific models of Android mobile devices don't support data transfer only with the RC-N3 and will remain in charging mode.) Starts charging the phone when the battery is ≤20%. Stops charging the phone when the battery is ≥50%.

Feel free to contact us if you have any other questions.

I left my Android phone connected to the RC-N3, an oversight. The controller drained charge from the phone down to below 10% by the time I spotted it. I won't make the same mistake again.
